This is Toyota 2nz-fe engine, commonly used in Vitz and Yaris hatchbacks, but in Pakistan a C segment sedan Corolla came with it for 15 years. Impressive little beast.

Over here in America kids don’t learn this stuff anymore ….and all these new cars they don’t want you to work on them there is so many components only certified techs can work on most of the cars ….. I drive older cars because they are easier to work on and fix

My tree mechanic, here in the states, was very quick.This man used to fix buses in Mexico, before he became a USA citizen. His brother fixed transmissions, while he did the engine and the rest of the mechanical work.The transmission was very complicated. He had his own shack for that, because, transmissions are very delicate. You need to keep them away from the outside.

Actually it’s pretty clean. No sludge or oil built up. It’s black due to the type of fuel that gets used there.

судя по нагару масла в двигателе и в цилиндрах, допуски по зазорам от производителя отсутствуют или масло используется самых дешевых марок на минеральной основе, вместо прокладки на водяном насосе герметик, в общем этот двигатель уже не один раз был отремонтирован не по технологии завода, так что за момент затяжки болтов головки блока цилиндров и пастелей коленвала можно не беспокоится.

I am all for teaching kids how to work with their hands but teach them the correct way, working on an mechanical internal combustion engine should be done in a proper manner. First safety - get off the ground, cleanliness - clean the engine before working on it, think of the environment - oil spilled on the ground is never good. Teach children how to respect the correct tools and they will respect you. I have walked away from workshops that looks like a pig sty even tough they are good people and mechanics. If you work on an engine in those conditions it will fail again. I still do respect the fact that you try to teach the kids, and I hope they do learn something from it.

We need these videos to show Americans how really lazy we are as a population.

The owner didn't change the oil. It's not supposed to be black inside a engine. The oil pickup screen had lots of debris in it. I wanted to see the bearings. I bet they were trashed.

Oh I fully agree, I have seen this too many times where maintenance is not kept up and then the engine fails - even a toyota engine. But that engine will never run again with these guys working on it.

What's wrong with the engine? I saw very dirty oil and the oil pick-up had sludge on it. Is there a part 2?

I’m always amazed at how us westerners need to fancy up shit, these folks rebuilding an engine with nothin but hand tools. My hat goes off to them man.

Anyone car strip a engine down with minimum experience, diagnosing the problems with the faults and making it right takes skill and experience. Not sure if these guys can do that.

@@Kolhozinterteiment Я ступичные гайки с метровой трубой отворачиваю,а тут чуть не рожковым ключём.Это наверное что б в следующий раз не напрягаться.Подшипникам при такой затяжке скорее всего тоже дома.

They pull the engine and transmission out as one unit. The drive axles prevent the transmission from coming out.
