Toyota Camry V6 / Lexus ES300 Power Steering Leak - High & Low Pressure Lines Replacement Fix
1997 - 2001 Toyota Camry V6 1997 - 2001 Lexus ES300 - Power Steering Hoses
This video will show you how I replaced the leaking high pressure power steering hose which runs from the power steering pump to the steering rack on a 1997 Lexus ES300. This hose is a combination hose and steel line. In addition, the hose leading from the reservoir to the pump was replaced as well. Don't be fooled by some repair shops trying to convince you into paying for a new power steering pump. The most common source of leakage are dry rotted power steering return hoses where the hose spring clamps cannot maintain tension or is where the high pressure rubber hose meets the metal compression fitting. If the rear camshaft seals is leaking, what's directly in the path of the oil leak is the power steering pump. The repair shops will show you all the oil on the pump and tell you you need a new one.

A few tips , You can use a deep 24mm socket to remove the PS sensor and banjo simultaneously too. Also there is a holeyou can fit your hand through between the intake runner/throttle body to remove the second PS line 10mm screw instead of removing the intake hose assembly.

Caged nuts breaking loose inside the subframe, OEM #3 bolt for the control arm came up too short to put back in place forcing a purchase of a new one, wheel bearings breaking the 12-ton harbor freight press, cam so close to the fire-wall that I had to get a $40.00 took to install the cam seals.....gimmie my Chevy Astro Van back for "easy to work on" any day

It is what it is. I have a video re-purposing a hydraulic punch tool to both remove and install sealed bearings with the knuckle remaining on the car. kzread.info/dash/bejne/Y42M3M6woKTIlLQ.html You might consider dropping the subframe by around a inch to get to those caged nuts.

@@hardlymovingpro Hi Again Mr Productions; Unfortunately, the subframe appears "rectangle tubular" so cutting into the subframe is required as I do not want to shell out the $800.00 + shipping for a new one. I then must learn how to flux-core weld to seal up the hole. I also need to perform a valve-overhead on it also as I am hearing quite audible ticking. But at least I do not have a $1,800.00 + shipping rear axle assembly going out like on my Chevy Astro van ....or its brake lines rusting out....or its hole in the gas tank where I broke a bolt off in its frame trying to remove the straps that hold the tank up.

The PITA With more questions. Sorry First off, soaking a cat in lye or tsp to remove some carbon build up… yay or nay? Second, did you use 20% marvel mystery to break in the enginee in the sonata video because I can not remember where I heard you give that suggestion. Can I use the mmo with some conventional 10w30 to break in the first 500 miles? I read the headers/ exhaust manifold s need to be torqued again after 500 miles. Would over torquing them by 3-5% be a good measure? It’s pretty impractical to get at the back header. I could remover the heat shield and just finagle extensions u joints and wobble adapters but I slid the engine out the front to avoid working and mounting the cat in the hood. Any tips for me to consider before the first time I crank this engine over. Read I should prime the oil pump and may be able to borrow a tool for that. But I didn’t see you doing this with the sonata. And can I pick the best of 2 pcv Valves and clean it or just get a new one? I’m already over budget but just got the salvaged engine Thursday.
@hardlymovingpro
Жыл бұрын
Never tried soaking a cat with lye. Since the Sonata donor engine was used, didn't add any MMO. I use use just non syn oil during engine breakin. I don't re-torque manifold nuts/bolts. Pre fill the oil filter before cranking over the engine. Also cranking the engine for around 10 seconds with the ignition disable will allow the oil pump to start circulating the oil.

@@hardlymovingpro which vid was it where you recommend mmo? I was eying the BG dynamic engine restoration but I’m already over budget and have 32oz of MMO. Should I use it after. I know there is a video where you use it I’m just pulling a blank which one. The amount of your videos I watch has gradually compounded over the last 2 months. You’re an inspiration and a legend in your own right. Couldn’t have compiled the ability to pull an engine and swap in another one without your perfectly done technical in depth DIY videos and approach. Even without an in depth step by step guide your videos just gave me the confidence needed to take on the task. You leave others who make similar videos in the dust and should never need to fix another car again for all you’ve shared. Seriously, idk why a major network hasn’t contacted you to do a vehicle repair show. Would tune in weekly for sure. Could partly be due to the fact the entire automotive industry doesn’t want people to become more comfortable repairing their vehicles because that compromises their profit margins and goes against consumerism’s encouraged planned obsolescence and built in disposability.
