I literally had this problem today. My wife called me in a panic stuck in the road in traffic. I instructed her to shut off and put in gear and try to get the car off the roadway. She did and she waited for me to go pick her up. I searched out this issue and got to your video. Did exactly what you instructed and it worked. The valve wasn't all the way opening. Cleaned it with the cleaner (not exactly the same can but one that was a good substitute) worked like a charm. Thank you. Thank you. Got better acceleration and just runs better just from that. Great job pm explaining the detachment of every connector. I've been a boiler operator/mechanic, a rocket surgeon, and now I'm on my last gig before I retire doing logistics for a chip maker. I know how to follow instructions. But far too many of these videos leave out or gloss over a critical step. I don't know why- if you doing a How-to, it completeness that matters - not the background music or cool intro. I'm just watching this for like the third or fourth time, right before I pull that assembly so I don't end up with a mystery connector, or spend an extra half hous because I disconnected the wrong side of something, and irmt just struck me how well you covered the one indispensable sequence clearly and succinctly Kudos! Update Wouldn't you know it, just as I got to thr last clamp, the rain ppen up and the wind kicked up. Ducked.back in the house to warm up and dry out.

Do idle relearn it will become stable at 800 or drive around with ac light and all accessories off it will do relearn by it self

Throttle body is the IAC since it electrical it dose job for both

Good video, if you have no one to help you, just disconnect the battery, and do the rest on your own, no check engine light no codes, no harm done as long as the battery is disconnected, i did that on my, camry, my corolla, with no problems at all, the computer will reset and rpm will get back to normal after a couple of hours of driving.

Yeah start from this usully when u at stop sign or red light it will do that cuz ur not pushing gas peddle

Excellent walkthrough, thanks! With the key on ACC, when you press the gas pedal, would that cause the computer to try to add gas as well to match the throttle body position? Can you leave the gas all the way down as long as you want with no issues?

Thanks. I had the low rpm issue(down to 500 rmp) especially when turning on the ac. after the cleaning it the low idle is gone and engine is smooth 800- 900 rpm.

There’s no problem there these care are designed to only open depending on speed of the car for safety reasons but I can trying cleaning it might have small jam or bad throttle

Would something like a bad throttle or dirty throttle throw a mass air flow sensor code? That’s what happen in my case I replace the mass air flow but the code never went off. I come across your video and I clean the throttle body put everything back together cut the car on check engine light was on drove around the block cut the car off and back on the light went out, next day it come back on. Any idea as why it’s doing that? Thanks

My 2015 camry le idles at 800 rmps when it's on park but when I put on drive or reverse it drops to 500 or 600 rpms and it shakes and the has turned off when I'm at a stop sign or red light.

Would this work for random reving up of rpm when driving? I noticed sometimes just driving a constant speed or sometimes when accelerating, it will rev up rpm then go down to what it normally increase to

No that’s more of weak transmission or slippage when it dose that it dosent have load from transmission it shifts to gear or delayed grab one the gear

My car idles poorly on drive and reverse gear with my foot on brakes, I feel vibration on my steery and dashboard while idling. It idles at 600rpm to 550rpm is this normal, with so much vibration n gets worse when I turn the ac on still on drive or reverse gear but reduces a bit when I put my car on park gear n vibration disappears when my car is moving n comes back when I come to a stoplight. I think, ama give this a try and see if it solves d issue.

When the engine is warm and if I let the car sit for 10 minutes and restart the car, the idle drops to 500 rpm for 1-2 seconds, runs rough, and then the idle smooths out? Any idea what could be causing this issue? I cleaned the MAF sensor, throttle body, replaced the plugs, coils, ECT sensor and crankshaft position sensor, and it still does this. There is no CEL, crank time is short and no noticeable drop in gas mileage.

Nice explanation. I have a problem with 2017 camry. It used to vibrate (as if driving on rumbler) when the rpm is around 1500. It runs smooth above and below that rpm. The mechanic diagnosed and replaced the front axle but it only made the situation worse. It occurs more frequently now and intensity of vibration is increased. Do you have any suggestions?

@RB the mechanic. I notice a misfire at 1300 rpm with engine cold or hot. It idles good and smooth and drives good. Sometimes intermittently I’ll come to a stop light and the rpm’s will drop from 900 to 600 and returns to 900 as if it was almost going to stall. Any advice?

Hi there! My Toyota Camry 2014 has 75,475 miles on it and it barley started doing this. I noticed it doing it after I’ve been driving for a little and then stop at a red light or stop sign. It does it for a quick maybe 2 to 5 seconds where I see the needle want to go down and the car shakes and wants to turn off so I let go of the brake…..then it doesn’t do it anymore. Yup it would get nice and hot then it would start to do cuz computer knows to lower the idle speed once’s it’s hot but then it can’t maintane the idle rpm speed so go for it do this service it will only be for the hood of vehicle

That might be somthing else or transmission related but this service is good to do it will keep the preformance of throttle response better so go for it and it dose send siginal to transmission module to shift accordingly so go for it!!

I have 2010 toyota corolla. similar throttle body top right cornar there is a screw hidden in a glue type material. can you please tell me, what is the function of that. and how it help in adjusting a specific parameter? I have observed that changing the position of that screw make throttal pedal to respond differently and effect the drivability . I have an issue of poor idling. throttle body is cleaned. every possibility has been checked but could not fix the issue.

@@RBTheMechanic sorry i did not understand what do you mean by load on flap? one person told me, that in toyota corolla electronic throttle body this screw is to raise or lower the idle RPM, but in my case I have observed that rotating clockwise it reduces the RPM but at certain point further clockwise rotation of screw again start to increase the Idle RPM, still confused how to check and verify the optimum position of screw and how it perforn its function? also trying to search service manual of electronic throttle body on internet but could not find.

We’ll try the light u might have had the sensors disconnect when doing this it picked up on it

I cleaned my Subaru throttle in exactly the same way. Had to disconnect the battery to stabilize the rpms after that.

That could be transmission issues but before ruling that check and scan the car for codes also clean out this throttle

This can be the issue or engine mount. Try to notice where ur rpm is when ur idling and it’s vibrating if it below 700 then u can say this is the issue

I have the same camry 2013. It doesn't turn off on the stop light but sometimes it feels like choking when I'm gaining speed and rpms are always low, about 1700-1800 no matter the speed I drive. Do you think it could be the same issue with the throttle body?

Yes sir only other thing I’m thinking is the throttle body I changed wasn’t a brand new one it was a from a different Camry we have that no one uses maybe I need to buy a brand new one ? The only code that came up at first was the p0420 for catalytic converter and that’s when the car starting giving me issues turning off / rattling when accelerating then that’s when the throttle body code came on . 🤦🏻‍♂️

When l start my car up in the morning it revs 2000rpm than jolts to 1000rpm would this be the throttle?

Hey man my car behaves normally when driving I have a 2010 Camry with 2AR-FE but the one thing is it when I turn it on it goes to 2k rpm and one morning it choked like crazy and smelled like gas everywhere but it idled normally afterwards and this all started happening after I accidentally left the cruise control on when I turned off the car. Is it a dirty throttle plate?

U can’t assume or say for certainly but do this throttle service it will fix manything or upcoming issues and let me know how it acts after that

@@RBTheMechanic alright I’ll try this weekend but I think the throttle plate was left open when I turned off the engine whilst leaving the cruise control module on and overnight carbon and fumes built up into the throttle body. I’m gonna check the condition of it though.

Does it stall on idle only or high speed

Keeping foot on gas pedal for this won't let a bunch of gas drop somewhere will it?

Nope it would need crank and cam siginal to inject gas

I haven’t done hybrid but it might not open up like this one dose but u can still clean it using swab

Could be dirty throttle this is very common issue on electrical throttle it’s sensitive it’s perfect time to clean every 20-30k miles

I have toyota camry 2004 (manual) When i run the car without airconditon the rpm is not drop but when i turn on the Aircondition car feel little bit shake then car when running about avobe 30+ speed the rpm is good but when car get reduced speed car shaking and when gear in neutral engine get stop plz tell me about the problem🙏🙏

Be careful with your fingers. After i do the fix as show in the video i read on reddit that if your finger its in the way and the throttle close it can slide the finger with no problem 😅🙆🏻‍♂️ thanks god i read that after i finish doing the work 🤣🤣

Do idle relearn… I never had issues did u disconnect battery or force the throttle

@@RBTheMechanic had some one turn key to on position and press the throttle to the floor. Sounds like I should disconnect battery for a hour to reset

@@unisuit i think he may have forced it or somthing only u urself would avoid all pro cautious anyways disconnecting battery will allow it to loose the idle memory then it will be low rpm u will need to relearn the idle it may try to stall on stop sign on red lights

Fixed. Throttle relearn did not work. Battery disconnect, then throttle relearn resolved issue. Thank you for your time and knowledge. You saved us a lot of money.

U can do idle relearn or drive around without any lights radio hear ac on so there is no load it will learn idle speed again
