What are color scripts?
"Colour scripts serve a functional purpose in animation. Due to the nonlinear production process of computer animation, the director needs all the clues he can get as to what the finished image might look like on the screen. The colour script is an early attempt to map out the colour, lighting, emotion and moods in a film. It’s not about making a single pretty piece of art; the color script evolves throughout the early stages of the film, hand in hand with story development."

You can see the progression of the movie's conception in this color script. A lot of early ideas show up and as you get to the end it more resembles the final cut. Cut ideas such as the nightmare scene, Andy's little sister Molly during nighttime, Pizza Planet being Pizza Putt, and a tough barbie who drove a pink corvette are pieced together in this one. The one thing I'm most confused about is the depiction of the nightmare scene. I can't make out the figure holding the trashcan lid and the scene after. Roaches eating woody maybe? Very Interesting none the less and I sure hope the original is in one piece at Pixar.

They should kept the figure with the trash can and the lid and the cockroach eating Woody in the nightmare scene, Andy’s little sister Molly during nighttime, Pizza Planet being Pizza Putt, and a tough Barbie driving a pink corvette in the final version of this movie and also strapping a rocket to Woody.

They changed pizza putt to pizza planet because it revolves buzz's diluted space ranger arch. They wanted buzz to seek out a way home and make him think the restaurant was a space sport, they changed it and it fit. As for the barbie in the corvette, Mattel wouldn't allow Pixar the rights and licensing copyrights to put barbie in the movie so she was cut, and the nightmare scene with woody was cut, scrapped and re envisioned in the second movie. And they changed the rocket being strapped to woody being strapped to buzz because to make the character arch feel like a real space man going to space instead of blowing up the cowboy doll in air for no reason. There was also an alternate chase scene at the end of the movie where woody is shown riding scud like a cowboy on a horse and he sends scud to another place, there's shakes the rattle, an alternate rain scene, buzz show opening, Western shootout opening, and the eastern gate deleted scene and an alternate sid learns a lesson scene. Ect. Toy story is filled with hidden mystery from the production.
