The makers themselves clearly said Toy Story 4 is about buzz and woody going their separate ways which everyone has experienced with a best friend or family member and about Woody finding his life's new purpose and reuniting with his long lost love Bo Beep. The garbage dump claw is probably my favourite use of the Deus Ex Machina in film. First, because it's ACTUALLY out of a machine (ex machina), which is a quality stealth pun. Second, it pays off a brick joke from the first movie ("The Claaaaaaaaawww") and the second movie ("You have save our lives! We are eternally grateful!")

    - This movie was the perfect ending to the TOY STORY franchise. The fourth one has some nice moments, but this here takes the cake. Absolutely ok to cry for this one! - SO many great moments. LOVE when Woody IMMEDIATELY decides to go back for the other toys after he finds out the truth about the day care, even after they parted on not so good terms. And Andy playing with all his toys at the end, telling them how much he loves them. AND THEE SCENE... where children learn that some day, you may find yourself in a no win scenario, and if you do, and if you've tried and tried and exhausted EVERY other option, there's no shame in that, and it's ok to go out with quiet dignity, surrounded by the ones you care for. 😭 This is probably the movie I'd show my kids when I want to explain death to them.

12:16 As 3D artist I'd say in situation like these we use physics simulations that calculate realistic behaviour for an object in the scene. Pixar, however, uses the programmers and physicist's help to design such simulation algorithms from scratch, if there isn't one already. A separate team does a lot of research to figure out how certain objects hair behave in the real world, to design a simulation that is accurate to the real world, and make animator's job easier - they still had to animate Woody running on it, but I'm pretty sure the way paper behaves is generated entirely.

I grew up watching the Latin Spanish dubs for Toy Story 1 and 2 from home, but Toy Story 3 is the first film in the franchise I went to see in theaters. Obviously I watched it in again in Spanish, but I was 15 when I saw the premiere. I cried when Andy departed and Woody gave a final farewell to his longtime partner, but this is hands down one of my favorite Pixar films of all time. Pixar alone defined so much of my youth, and much like Chief Creative Officer Pete Docter I'm also happy that we get to pass on these stories that we grew up with to new generations of children.

  • @nintenmetro

@@kylahicks7054 It’s okay. I’ll gladly answer that. For the Latin Spanish version, the dub actor José Luis Orozco had to put on a Spaniard accent. Some of the dialogue was different, too. Woody: We gotta fix Buzz. Slinky: What do the instructions say? Hamm: I don’t know. That part’s in Japanese. And instead of El Buzzo, Woody calls him Manolete. He was a bullfighter in the 20th century.

I grew up with Toy Story, was a little kid when 1 came out, and went to university, just like Andy did, when 3 came out in summer 2010. In a way, I grew up alongside Andy on a similar timeline. Just seeing your reaction video made me tear up, but seeing that scene with Bonnie at the end the first time, definitely made me tear up as well. It suddenly reminded me of all the toys that I played with when I was younger, toys that I haven't thought about in years. It also reminded me of my own Buzz that I had, and the times I would carry him around everywhere.

I remember being almost 8 and during the incinerator scene; I took hands with my grandmother, Jessie and Woody; then the entire audience joins in our fate until my sister looks at me knowing she had to expect death even though it’s a huge screen, my sister takes my hand. I was the last one to close my eyes and the first to open them when the claw came down. I’m nearly 21 now and still remember it very well.

Chuckles the Clown is mainly voiced by late Bud Luckey, who was a character designer ever since Toy Story and he designed Woody (though he credits John Lasseter or picking the right design since he did hundreds of designs for Woody). He also directed and narrated the short Boundin' which was shown in front of The Incredibles in theaters and voiced Rick Dicker in The Incredibles as well, and voiced Eeyore in 2011 Winnie the Pooh. He retired during the production of TS3 in which he storyboarded a deleted alternative opening to the movie, as a send-off. He passed away in 2018 months before Incredibles 2 was released (he didn't reprised Rick Dicker, his voice was recast by Jonathan Banks). In the flashback Chuckles was voiced by Bob Peterson, the guy who co-direced Finding Nemo and Up and voices Dug in Up and Dug Days.

I watched this with my Mom when it came out on Netflix and was crying at the end(Mom was too). Made me cry because Andy had to let go of a part of himself and grow up and I think we all experience that. I think anyone even people who didn’t have or weren’t big on toys growing up can relate to this movie/Andy. Letting go or reflecting on your childhood can make anyone emotional.

i straight up have toys that have been played by all the other first cousins. I am the oldest of what I refer to as the grandkids, 9 of us total, so all my toys have been passed around and end up back here. I appreciate that they are there and I will use some of them with my kids. I can really appreciate woody saying that if Andy wants them in the attic then they need to be there for him because it is what mine have done until the time they get played again. In particular there is this little toy caste that I remember playing with as a kid. Me my grandpa and my late father all had pots and pans on our heads pretending to be knights.

I dont work in animation but in 3D videogames: you dont animate the paper and similar things, you usually simulate them. You give the geometry physical characteristics (weight, friction) and apply force on to it (wind, gravity and such), so you change those attributes to get the behavior you want. Of course, than can be combined with hand animation on the paper depending on the shot, but usually it is mostly simulated.

29:03 Not only was it cause of pixars being more experienced, but also cause kids like me who grew up with toy story would be near andy age for the film releases. It hit me real hard when i saw 3, because like andy it was time for people like me to completely leave that childhood behind. It resonated hard, and the natural progression of time is what allowed for the level of emotion and drama worked so well for this movie. I did indeed love my toys as a kid too. yea i croed fo sho Fyi, i have a woody toy, just like him. all wobbly and all lol, and ive had him since i was 2ish.
