I kind of hate the eyes. They're trying too hard to be modern and hip. LED screens are not more realistic. They're flat, glowing for no reason and creepy. The original eyes moved like actual eyes and I don't know of anyone who broke the original Teddy Ruxbin eyes. It's just a lazy design, modern for the sake of modern. All you had to do with made him able to read MP3s, you didn't need to replace his eyes with nightmare fuel.

I have to say, trust me. When you see the eyes in person and how they sync with the classic Teddy Ruxpin stories you will be won over. Mommy doesn't like LCD eyes as a rule, but they are very inviting in person. Not just saying this. I expected to be a little creeped out and I kept snuggling him an didn't want to put him down! Give it a look when it hits the market.

I'm sorry to say I still would have preferred eyes that look like eyes and not a glowing computer screen sticking out from eye shaped holes of fur. He looks like a character from Dune who got addicted to The Spice. And I LIKED how those eyes look in Dune. I don't even like the larger eyes on the Monster High dolls. They keep making eyes too big on American toys now, where anime eyes look tiny in comparison. Also have you thought about what LED screen eyes look like when the batteries go dead? He'll have two black eye sockets. Instant nightmare fuel. Whoever chose these over robotic eyes should be fired at once.

I used to repair the original TR for people (and I used to get a LOT of business). It was rare to find one that couldn't be fixed, usually just aged grease that had hardened or worn tape player belt. EVERY version that came out after the original was a step down and this one looks to be the worst version of all. And the original is NOT worth a million dollars. A restored original runs about 100.00

I had and loved Teddy Ruxpin when I was little! I have thought about buying one from ebay just to have it back again haha I'm not gonna lie, I kind of want one of these new ones just for nostalgic reasons. However, I need them to bring back Grubby as well!

OMG!!! I can't believe they brought Teddy Back! I saw him on LIVE with Kelly and I *still* can't believe it. Oh, I wish I never got rid of him now~ Pulled his nose of though...poor guy. Plus I can't believe they used the original stories~! *squee*

The original Teddy Ruxpin does not sell for "thousands of dollars" on eBay.

I had 2 Teddy Ruxpins in the 80s, this new one is just freaky! Those eyes are cold and soulless.

I'm already counting the days now until next August - I want him now! :)

So cool, I remember my cousin having one of these at her house (she was 17 years older than me) and always being so intrigued by it. Honestly though the new one is creepier in my opinion, but its still cool that they are rereleasing it!

I had up in the 90s so i didn't know much about him but two years ago I watched a Kids React episode wich was Teddy Ruxpin and it was the first time is ever seen what he can do and I fell in love instantly! he's just flawlessly gorgeous and has the sweetest most soothing voice! I NEED A RUXPIN IN MY LIFE NOW!!!!! *sobs for hours* D:

I used to have a Teddy Ruxpin when I was a kid. I loved him so much, and I used to watch the cartoon, too. He was a big part of my childhood.

I had one of the old ones. I remember when Teddy Ruxpin was in the stores. There was a display of Teddy in the store and when you passed by him, he either talked to you or you had to press a button to turn him on. After I saw Teddy , I just had to buy one. He was and is so cute. When my son was younger, he liked Teddy , too. Teddy Ruxpin rules !!!!

I think if our a teddy collector then you wouldn't be bothered about what changes he goes through i think it's awesome that they thought he was special enough to bring back I have a 1980s and the new 2017 one and i love them both thanks for sharing mommy and Gracie xx

2:34 is the part you should pay attention to. Regarding the built-in stories, "three of them are unlocked, _you have to unlock the additional seven via any smart device_." That means parents will need to pay via smartphone and credit card to access the content that's already built into the toy.

No, they wouldn't do _that_. Instead, just enter your credit card and let your toddler make in-app purchases with a large friendly button to keep Teddy happy.

I really wish they wouldn't do this, even if it means bumping up the initial cost. Having to pay extra just to unlock stories the toy already has built-in definitely seems like a blatant cash grab. Undoubtedly there will also be people working on ways to circumvent this and unlock all stories without paying, assuming the toy is popular enough...

When the original came out, I was way too old for Teddy Ruxpin. And now my kids are too old for the new one. But it does look adorable!

I so remember Teddy Ruxpin! I didn't own one myself, but I think I may have babysat for kids that had him. I also remember that you could get his caterpillar friend, Grubby that could interact with him. I wonder if they will be doing that too? So excited to see him make a comeback! Great job! : )

I had to give mine away cause the battery pack in the back was carroded due to old batteries left inside. I still have two of the old books though. :D I loved Teddy so much. He's part of the reason, of a long list, of inspirations why I'm an author. :D

I'm not a fan of the LCD eyes, but it's cool that Teddy's coming back!

I am 32 years old so i grew up with Teddy (loved the cartoon) and always wanted my own Teddy but never was able to get it so i would love this one rven though the LCD eyes seem pointless, i just eant a Teddy added to my 80s collection of toys.

These will retail for about 100 and you only 3 stories and have to unlock the rest. For that, you can get a working original Teddy Ruxpin with tapes. They are NOT as much as those people claim.

I still have my original teddy Ruxpin and will be getting a new one for my daughter this Christmas

I would buy this Teddy Ruxpin toy! I wasn't around in the 80's but my parents wanted to get me one but, couldn't find one for me & my brother to learn with. I was hoping this one would come out sooner but, I guess the longer the better for the updated version of him.

Jay Squared I'm glad to see him back, but I have to agree about the eyes. It seems like a lot of toys have them these days and it feels like a fad. The original was so innovative...there was nothing else even remotely close!

Actually I kind of hate the eyes... There was no need to make them LED screens. Blue eyes don't glow and aren't flat surfaces. And LED screens break a lot easier than animatronic eyeballs. This is just trying to be "hip."

To be honest it isn't worth the wait. Personally I think he needs to be a bit more downgraded than upgraded. Think of what they did with furbys. They slowly started to upgrade them a bit more and more every few years. But teddy ruxpin came out in 1985 and with no FREAKING WARNING OR SMALL UPDATES HE GOES FROM THE SIMPLE AND CUTE TEDDY RUXPIN WE KNEW AND LOVED TO A TEDDY BEAR EDITION FURBY!!!! To put it simply I think mechanical eyes and CD's would be best for now instead of ......................... whatever this 2050 looking teddy bear is.

I agree with you K-9s Fur Life. I hate the idea of having to pay to "unlock" things already in the toy when the thing is 100 bugs. What a cheap cash grab and the eyes are just too much. If he had normal eyes he would be so cute!

This will make it into a horror movie, guaranteed.

19 and I have a Teddy Ruxpin that belong to my older sister. Unfortunately he's not working, and I tried very hard with a lot of effort to fix him. To this day, he is still sitting on my bookshelf, along with six tapes, waiting to be fixed and played with again.

His cassette player wouldn't work. But not too long ago I got a replacement cassette player and now he works again! But now I have to replace his head frame since I accidentally broke the original one!

OOOH DEAR GOD THE EYES!

I feel so silly, but this made me emotional enough to tear up a little. Short story: When I was a little girl, I LOVED Teddy and begged for one for months. I got him Christmas morning, but my autistic sister (who is pretty far down the autism spectrum, more so at the time) decided he was hers. My parents couldn't buy a second one, so they told me to just let her have it. She ripped him from my arms and proceeded to poke and prod his animatronic parts, until his eyes popped out and his mouth stopped working. The toy that I imagined reading with for months, the character I loved watching and had imaginary adventures with on my 'lava' filled living room, was ripped from my arms and destroyed in less than eight hours. Needless to say, I will have to find a way to get this bear next year.

Oh that is such a sad story. I'm sure it was often hard to have to put aside your own desires because of your sister. I'm sure you love her, but it's still not easy. I see that with my nephew Mark and his sister Sammi. So often what she needs or wants have to take precedence and I'm sure it is hard for him. He keeps it all inside, but I know it is there. We we try to give him special time with us :-) I hope you get this new Teddy next year and you get to have amazing adventures :-)

A similar thing happened to mine. I took him to school for show-and-tell, decided to pass him along after my presentation of him and when I got him back the mouth never worked right again after all of those kids jammed their fingers into it. I'm 38 years old and I can still remember the horror of what I got back from those mangy kids! We should start a support group or something, lol! ;D
