That is NOT lip- synced. I have heard this song a billion times and I can hear a lot of differences in the vocals all throughout the song. Gene was THE MAN.

How I miss those days, early 60s, and the music from that time.

I was 15 when this came out and already a big fan. He had one of the best voices at that time and some really good songs - this one being my favorite of his.

If you lived in the time that this song was popular, there is no way you weren't effected by this song. It was a movie about young love, rape and prejudice and also discrimination. This song puts it right there and tugs at your heart strings. Great song; great singer.

Not only is it a great song, sung by a great singer/songwriter, but it is also the theme to one of the best German movies of the 60s, which hit here in the USA in October, 1961.

I used to stare at the tv when I saw him sing on any of those dance shows when I was a teenager.....I was in love. I loved Gene Pitney!!!! 7/11/10

Simple set, excellent voice, brilliant song. This is what's missing from today's sound. I can't call it music, as it is not music.

Trudylynn Gunn The movie by the same title is also worth watching. The song is played throughout the movie, but the movie itself is compelling. I have it on my computer and could upload it to my channel. Problem is, I can only leave it up for 48 hours. Wonder

I love this man. He has such a powerful, beautiful voice. I remember him as a child and loved all his songs.

All I can say is WOW! Really takes me back to the 60s.

One of my favorite songs of the sixties. I liked it very much as Gene Pitney's voice is very good and he sings with feeling and depth this song making one feel the tragedy he mentions in it. He is one of those singers that can paint a picture for one to see with the songs he sings. Very good.

I saw him live at a small theatre it was great he was made for the stage I think he was a frustrated actor but such a great talent. When I was in my teens i craved his songs and he expressed the feelings our generation had...........

Always loved Gene Pitney….thank God they put him in the Rock Hall…very underrated…great vocalist…and this song is just so awesome

This is just pure class. Gene Pitney was a great artist. I play guitar in a heavy metal band, but I know great music when I hear it!:) My parents taught me to appreciate good music. Thanks for posting this clip! This rocks!!! Dale :)

town with out pity, yea buddy, saw it about 2-3 times. i have the cd. what a beautiful movie. i see it now and then. never get tired of it.

Saw him in the first rock concert of my life. Dick Clark's Caravan of Stars in the ampitheater of Evansville, IN. Remember running down to the stage like any groupie when he sang this. He was the headliner. The Supremes were also there, had just put out their first big hit, sang "Baby Love."

Even today after all these years I find myself singing this song out of the blue. It is a very haunting song by Mr Pitney. It has stayed with me all these years. Loved it then, I love it now.

Went to his concert in Townsville North Queensland about 7 years ago....fantastic performer and so many great records from the past......strange how time doesn't kill feelings.

Years ago, I heard on the radio late Bobby Vee even used to praise Gene Pitney as he was one of his favorite.

Thanks for posting this. It' rare to see Gene live and so young. I used to know his album It Hurts to Be in Love, with I'm Gonna Be Strong when I was 15, and still listen to same album at 64. . Amazing man.

April 5, 2006 ... he had just given a wildly popular concert in Cardiff (the place where he was most admired). The grand finale was Town Without Pity, which got a standing ovation. A few hours later he died of a heart attack. Wales is called Y Wlad y Gan (Land of Song), so a singer who can make it there must be something special.

One of my favorite songs sung with so much feeling with Gene Pitney's voice which was so special and so well suited to this style of songs. I was 15 when this song was released and the same year I fell in love for the first time. Nice remembrances.

SAW him a few years back here in Vegas. He was great. I can't understand what ever happened to him for so many years. I liked all his records, had most of them.

I lived in West Hartford in 1967 and at that time there was a local band called The Wildweeds. They were outstanding. Run a search on youtube and see some of their old videos. No Good To Cry is one of the best rock songs ever. CT rules.
