भाडिपा अश्या प्रकारचे विषय हाताळतंय हे कौतुकास्पद आहे. टाउन प्लानिंग शिक्षणाचा प्रचार आणि प्रसार करण ही खूप महत्वाचं आहे. महाराष्ट्रात फक्त COEP कॉलेज मधेच Bachelors in Planning हा कोर्स आहे.

अतिशय योग्य उदाहरण दिलं. रस्त्याचं वाटोळं करून टाकलंय. मी तिथेच रहाते. Town planning ची फुल वाजवली आहे😡पुण्याच वाटोळं केलंय.

Unfortunately because of the level of policy paralysis, lethargic governance, and the general Pune "1-4pm closed" attitude this continues on in the babus/government servants. That along with the fact that Punekars refuse to learn civil driving etiquette and civic sense!

खूप सुंदर माहिती आणि उत्तम उदाहरणं! आणखी प्रभावीपणे दिसणारी गोष्ट म्हणजे या प्लानिंगमध्ये अपंग व्यक्तींचा विचार केलेला दिसतच नाही. आपल्याकडचे किती पायाने अधू, फार चालता न येणारी वयस्कर माणसं सुखासुखी प्रवास करू शकतात? मतं तर नेत्यांना सगळ्यांचीच हवी असतात, मग विचार होतो कुठे? दुसरा पर्याय म्हणजे पर्यायी शहरं का नाही होत? का कंपन्या त्यांची ऑफिसं मुंबई पुणे वगळता दुसऱ्या शहरात काढत नाहीत? Work from home मिळालं तर कोणाला हौस आहे प्रवास करून ऑफिसला जायची? असो, तुम्ही मुद्दे फार उत्तम मांडत आहात पण त्याची दखल किती घेतली जाईल याबद्दल शंकाच आहे! पण फार उत्तम उपक्रम आहे हा वर्गात काहीतरी विषय मांडायचा!

This is very IMP topic for PMC, road widening is going-on on Katraj-Kondhawa road but there is not even a inch of footpath available and Bus services are terrible as usual, we need to take inspiration from walkable Europian cities for this, anyways very good explanation and too in Marathi coz there are lots of English videos avaiable on this topic but this is I guess the first in Marathi.

प्रचंड योग्य वीडियो!

The problem with town planning in our corporations is that people who are competent to be on these posts aren't really in these positions... Politicians, Builders etc. are the ones manipulating the rules, land alotments etc... because people are appointed there through exams - people without the knowledge of planning principles, human centric designing etc get appointed... At times the ones who are eligible and needed on these posts don't even know of these exams... So then urban designers end up becoming activists and then go on to make proposals which take years and years to be executed...

It's good to see someone is talking about these issues. I have a few thoughts. 1. Footpaths, cycle lanes don't work. They are used for parking other vehicles and stuff. Every pedestrian and cyclist are already using tarmac roads. All footpaths and cycle lanes should be removed as they will free up a couple of lanes. 2. More infrastructure is not better infrastructure. University chowk development has been going on since last 2 decades, and it's far from over. There's too much tax funds available to corporators. There's no incentive to have developed infra, but there's a lot of money to be made by keeping everything in "developing" phase. The Pune Metro has been a failure as like all the other Indian cities. Metro is solving problems of 2010. But it's 2024 already. Now, there's a proposal for 10 new Metro routes. If everything is developed, then how will future corporators make monies? 3. Public transport (PMPML) needs to be revamped. The routes it's serving are based on 1990s demographics. It's addressing 2024's issues. The metro money can be used to run it free for everyone for the next century.

The answer to 1. is not to remove footpaths and cycle tracks, but make sure that they are not encroached and usable by people. People walking on the tarmac is dangerous.
