TOURNAMENT CONFRONTATION Lake Eufaula Day 2 Hobie BOS

Day two on Eufaula brought more tough fishing, and on top of that, I had the worst on the water encounter with another angler than ever before.

Your a class act and instinctively great fisherman for your age, unfortunately you’ll have to deal with situations like this off and on over the years. At the end of the day the only thing that matters is how we represent ourselves and other fellow sportsman, best of luck in your future tournaments.

Nolan first time subscriber loved watching this video, first time ever seeing a situation go on like this, and wow. His defensive attitude towards you was unacceptable telling another fisherman to blank, when we start the tournament with the national anthem and then a prayer. You were never in the wrong with this, but unfortunately it took place. Were suppose to be having fun and there for each other even in heated competition against each other. Thanks for sharing take care God bless!

Don’t worry about him. Never let someone who is obviously confused about their chances get to you when they want to claim fishing waters. You did the right thing. If he was enough of a stick to clean that spot out, he would probably be in better standing than 71st anyway. Good job, hammer! Although, even though you were irritated, no need for the comment to him on the fourth fish. That could have easily escalated a cooling situation.

Im talking about guys just like him, he was agressive from the jump. He should of went somewhere else as soon as he saw you but instead he comes and tries to start conflict, acting like you started throwing a chatterbait bc of what he was throwing the day before. I'm 62 years old and I am a bank fisherman. Fishing from shore is particularly hard because a lot of lakes have limited shore accessibility. I was taught by my mentor to give your fellow shore angler 40 to 50 yards on a fan cast or half moon from where you are standing. Today that does not exist any longer. People will get right next to you; and I mean right next to you like 10 feet. I'm not talking little kids or people that are unfamiliar with fishing. I'm talking experienced bass anglers. There's no more fishing etiquette any longer.

I’ve been fishing on piers and had people literally run up bumping shoulders with me and cast exactly where I cast, trying to catch fish. They got nada. I left with a 150qt cooler stuffed! That guy was a kid in his early 20’s maybe. The next guy did the same and he had to be in his late 50’s to early 60’s. They had the entire Atlantic Ocean and they weren’t happy unless our shoulders were touching. He didn’t catch anything either but I continued to catch fish. Had the same thing happen multiple times on trout streams.

My logic’s idea would be that since he only caught 1 that he’ll blank the 2nd day and I wouldn’t have zero worries if he fished the entire lake because more than likely he’d struggle to catch even 1

Had the exact same situation on Seminole last year but with a respectable angler. I had 4 solid fish and it was late in the day. This guy and I both came up on an island point at the same time. He asked me how I was doing I told him I was 1 away and he told me he only had 1 fish. I didn't even ask, he just told me he hoped I killed it and he turned around and left. It's all about courtesy.

I got into a a debate with a friend who I think he didn't know it was me about fishing a certain stretch. I was closer to getting to the spot and was there for a bit when he came up and basically claimed the whole entire bankline from where he was down another .30 of a mile. I should have called him out by name but I dropped it and let him have it. Then I went over to the left and caught two fish real quick. So it is what it is I guess. But that crap pissese me off as well.

In a tournament the name of the game is efficiency and putting the odds in your favor. With heavy line and single hooked baits, there is no reason to play a fish out if you can land it quickly. And yes the longer you fight the fish, the better the odds are for the fish to jump or change directions and shake the hook, that's why I always try to be really quick with the net!

Great video of a bad interaction. We have to hold ourselves accountable since there are a lot of noobie anglers and overly competitive tools who either don't care or don't know what the commonly accepted rules of etiquette are for any bass tournament-regardless of it being a kayak or bass boat tournament. The BlueSky guy was clueless if he thought he could overcome a 1 scored fish on day 1 at a tournament that big.

If you go to one of your tournaments and it's a cloudy windy day do not hesitate to have a spinnerbait tied on the wind and a spinnerbait is like peanut butter and jelly your not going to eat peanut butter with out jelly. And don't hesitate to go up in weight size with your tungsten worm weights because alot of times if you're not getting bit it's as simple as a weight change.

Nolan anyone that loves to fish are for the most part good folks IMO so I want to share something with ya and I'm not picking on ya at all. I'm 55 yrs old live on Ky. Lake and fish on average right at 200 days a year and have been fishing ever since big enough to hold a pole and I learned something today when I went and I do most every time or least I try. And it's what hooks most folks the fact that you will continue to learn as long as your living and are fishing. This is about your shad spawn theory ask yourself, in a school of shad or baitfish which ones do the Bass or other fish tend to eat? The weak injured or sick right and I'm sure you knew the answer. So don't leave a school of shad/baitfish wherever there's bait there will be fish. Get bit making em think your bait is the injured sick weak shad/baitfish. I'm sure you got it from here bud and do this. At end of a day of fishing ask yourself what's one thing I learned today? Bet ya can always think of one thing and long as you can do that your doing good and can only get better for it. Lastly let the scales do your talking. IMO that 4th fish maybe not been bad idea to not have said anything just block that stuff out the more you say or talk the more they think they've gotten to ya sorta speak. Besides you got fish to catch!!! Be safe and never give up!! I wonder what would best imitate weak injured shad???? Um.......I'm going to sub because this has something to do with fishing and enjoy watching ya catch em as well as enjoy seeing you win one in near future!!

Im not subbing to anyone that doesnt acknoledge a single comment. That tells me the guy has his nose pointed upward . But i would have wanted to know why he kept fishing the same bait in the same spot ,Even after they evidently dropped the water several feet . Most of the time the fish will move into deep structure just by instinct .It usually takes a few days of stable water before they bite again.

yeah bro, that's bullshit.......i will give up a spot to someone even if im in contention for a check if they are taking a run at the win or something. theres very few instances I won't try and work something out with someone if they just talk to me and be decent about it. What I hate is when someone just blows right in front of me or something without even saying anything. anytime im going down a stretch and am coming towards someone boat or kayak, in our tourney or not, I will always ask them if its cool if I go around them, or just talk to them about where I was planning on going, and how can I do that so we are both happy? the people that just cut you off and then mean mug you and shit......that's the stuff that's unacceptable.

Damn, I mean if he hung back and fished your footprint that be one thing, but dude cut in front, that's shitty just on a normal day of fun fishing. Took a trip to Lake moomaw last month, on the last day before I packed up camp, I wanted to check the camp fishing area from the back since my kayak was already loaded up. I'm right on the bank fishing the small area I can access when a dude in a big ass pontoon comes and pulls up literally right in front of me and starts casting toward me, beating the bank. I just blank stared in disbelief, and said "by all means sir, help yourself." The shoreline I was on ran up the lake for several miles, but the spot I was standing on must have been the prime real estate that he just couldn't pass by. Basically, use common sense and don't be a dick.

I've only had one bad experience so far that I can recall in a tournament! Even though we have more fishermen than ever nowadays so interactions on the water become more frequent, people are pretty nice. We just see examples like this because no clip of someone saying "Oh you fished this yesterday and you're doing well? I'll try to stay out of your way man I didn't do great yesterday, good luck!" goes viral

This is why I don’t fish bass tournaments bc 99% of guys that bass fish are arrogant jerks.

This is why I don't fish in Touraments. To much drama. I have set in my boat talking to guys in other boats and both of us fishing the same bank not 10ft apart from each other. Never had a run in with no one. You don't own any part of that lake it's open to anyone that wants to fish it.

I have been fishing for 55 years now, lots of competition, those folks are just dumbarses and miserable jerks, move on and let them mess with the wrong guy or guys.
