When I did my first trip to the UK after 40 years in Australia I found that I had forgotten how close together everything was. Also the number of roads meant that it was easy to find alternative routes if the one I wanted was congested.

If you breakdown get out vehicle on nearside and stand well away behind barrier or up embankment and walk away from vehicle to the rear and back towards the traffic, so if a vehicle hits your bike or car you will not be hit by flying debris or damaged vehicles.

Never had a problem with Amex in the UK

I'm sure my EU colleagues have said they don't have their passports stamped entering or leaving the UK.

Our terrible road surfaces and dangerous potholes everywhere.

Folks, the drink drive limits are LOWER in Scotland than in England, Wales or NI, so just don't even think about it here, and be extra careful the following morning as only a tiny amount will put you over the limit. This is something bikers from the rest of the UK forget when they come north.

I always take the tunnel going over, but get on a dinghy to come home. The RNLI picks me up 10 minutes after leaving France and take me into Folkestone free of charge. Once there me and my bike are transported free to a 4 star hotel where I'm given money and free food for as long as I want it. Just can't understand people actually paying and still having to mess about with that customs nonsense.

16:25 A slight correcting guys, the Police have the powers to stop a vehicle full stop. There does not need to be a suspicion or reason of any contravene of a law. In effect they could just stop you to say hello :)

None UK licence holders can get points. The points are not on their own country licence, if they commit an offence that attracts points DVLA will give them a ‘ghost licence’, that is they are given a driver record and the points are recorded on that. The police are able to give out ‘on the spot fines’, these must be paid there and then. The driver can still elect to go to court, if they do that they still have to pay the fine, officially they are classed as a roadside deposit. If they go to court and are found not guilty they get the deposit back.

Hi guys. I am from Norway, going to UK in july. What about safety when it comes to parking the bike when visiting places . Parking with the luggage on and leaving the bike maybe for an hour or two?? Any special areas that have more criminals than other. We are avoiding the big cities. Any tips please ??

Hi. Thanks for the question. There is lots of bad press about cities and bikes in the uk but honestly we haven’t had an issue so far. If you are avoiding cities then making sure your luggage is locked and secure and having a good disc lock would be ok. A tracker is always good to add that peace of mind. Hope you enjoy visiting :)
