The Honeymoon Suite was very nice, as were the other rooms, but I LOVED the Veranda Room. That bed was spectacular and the desk!!! I have to point out, though, that the piece on the wall in the upstairs landing is an appliqué quilt, not a tapestry. Tapestries are woven on looms in such a way that pictures or scenes are formed whereas appliquéd quilts are made of cloth, generally a large solid ground with cut pieces put together to form shapes and stitched on top. The whole thing is layered with either more large pieces of cloth stacked or batting with another large sheet of cloth for the bottom. Decorative hand stitching holds all the layers together and the final product has a border sewn around to finish it. It is a beautiful house with such a charming couple as owners and hosts! And a very enjoyable video!

Thank you so much! The information you provided is very useful, we will pin this comment so that everyone else can learn about the difference between appliqué quilts and tapestries.

I agree, the Veranda Room was my favorite bedroom!
Wow this couple did a fantastic job restoring this house. It's like stepping back in time seeing how elegant people lived back then. Beautiful home.
I'm SO happy that they stripped all of the wood, but most of the rooms need to be wallpapered. Ceilings weren't painted white back then. They were painted in deeper or medium colors because they were so high, and it gave the illusion of lower ceilings. The furniture is absolutely gorgeous!
What a simply lovely couple! She is so sweet and down to earth. And their desire to make others have a wonderful experience is touching. All the hard work paid off as this home is stunning! They should feel very proud of the outcome of this endeavour.
These owners should be given a medal for stripping and restoring all the old woodwork! What a labor of love! Absolutely amazing! How did they do it? The cherry wood in the music room is my favorite!
I appreciate the discussion with the owners regarding preserving historic homes with the craftsman features and old-growth woods. Contrasting this house with McMansions really drives home the point that "they don't build them like they used to." It is true that that house would fit right in with the Central West End!
Sandy and her husband seem like a wonderful couple to meet and have great conversations with . Thank-you
One of my favorites, the amount of artistic details implented into every part of these old homes is astounding, modern architects and builders should be ashamed.
What a magnificent house and furnishings! That carved mahogany bed was beautiful! I'm so glad the owners restored the wood. They are a lovely couple, and the world of historic preservation is lucky to have them as owners of this fabulous house! Great tour, Ken!
I love that they dressed up for their interview segment ❤
Most all the rooms were wonderful! The owners must be very rich to have filled it with all that lovely furniture, such a pleasure to see!! Thanks, Ken.
Incredible mansion and grounds filled with incredible antique furnishings ..... beautiful!
Lovely house - technically 1901-1910 is the Edwardian period rather than Victorian, (Queen Victoria reigned June 1837 to Jan 1901) but this house has many Victorian influences. Love the portraits on the stair case.

Thank You so much finally someone like me, I keep seeing so many things that say Victorian, when they are Edwardian. I see it in antique shops as well, they want to blend them into one era, they are their own eras or time periods.

"Victorian" has become a very broadly generic term for 19th century to pre-WW1 era homes.
My husband and I had the opportunity to stay in the honeymoon suite a few years ago and loved it. The Belotes are a lovely couple, and the house is incredible. They have truly restored a treasure.
The owners did a wonderful job restoring all the woodwork. I love it when people really care for these homes and keep the originality and not turn it into a modern nightmare.
Just stunning!
I love they stripped the paint off the woodwork and that each room has it's own wood theme. I enjoy your tours so much the entire place is incredible thank you so much for taking us along with

I’ve been binging on all my home tour channels during football season;(. In my opinion, Ken gives the best tours. Not only does he tell the history of the home, but I really enjoy his architectural lessons teaching me not only what various types and styles but also why and how it may have been used. Also, the filming is top shelf, not rushed, doesn’t make me dizzy, but instead moves in a way to make me feel as if I’m there with y’all. I really like seeing how each room flows into the next so that I can then visualize the architectural plans of the home.
A beautiful home. Thanks for the tour. Watching you from the Southern Tier of the Catskill Mountains in Upstate New York USA

Picture rails were used with plaster walls because nailing into plaster causes cracks.
I hope you see this note! I might be descended from the first Ninian Beal who settled in Prince George’s County in Maryland! The name of the house caught my eye for sure! Not sure which Beal I’m descended from though. Ninian Beal brought his brother’s family over from Scotland when they were orphaned. Beal was a community leader and acted as mentor and friend to my Willett ancestors. Thanks for sharing the Beal house with us!

Absolutely beautiful
Natural woodwork beautiful! Imagine trying to "dust!" You pick out the neatest & amazing treasures to investigate, what a treasure. If I sneezed in this mansion, things would come crashing down to the floor. Garage?, Attic?, Basement? Type of heat? Thermopane windows anywhere? Fantastic Clip! Thanks for sharing.

I love your comment! Yes, there's a garage, basement, and attic. The attic is where the owners live. There was also an additional room for rent, however, it was occupied while we were filming. The heat is from radiators and all of the windows appeared to be original. Glad you enjoyed this tour!
Thank you all so much for taking your time to show and explain the craftmanship and workmanship that went into the original and restoration!
What a labor of love and so worth it. They could not have chosen a more worthy home.
Thank you fir preserving a craftsman masterpiece.sadly we have become a throw away society.Tour Italy to see homes 1000 ,500 ,400 years old.

What a gorgeous home. It’s awesome that the owners restored all that beautiful wood!
This house is amazing because of the preservation of the house all the beautiful antique furniture and antique fireplace and all the amazing antiques that they have just beautiful to see people who love American 🇺🇸 history and preserves these beautiful buildings ☮️✝️✡️💯🇺🇸💡👍🙏😇🍿👼🥰🥇
Beautiful home.
I can't see how people back in the day could live in those luxurious homes without air conditioners because it's almost impossible to live in a house without air unless maybe during that time it wasn't as hot as it is now. 😳 🤔 😉
Wow! Just amazing in every way.
The veranda room is my favorite!
An incredible home!

Wow! Very impressive ❤
Thank you so much Ken!!! This channel is amazing! Just wanted to let you know how much it means to me. Hope you can make it down to the Southwest someday. There’s so much info on east coast, the south, SF and a lot of other older homes. I’m restoring a southern Arizona real Wild West Historical Victorian and finding info on homes like mine in Arizona/Nevada/New Mexico is not super easy. But since most things went east to west it’s cool to see the styles that made it all the way in the middle of the hot dusty desolate desert.
Great episode ❤😊
I love old houses 😊
Ken I have to say - I really enjoy your videos they are so calming to hear and so calming to see.
19:19 so important!!
Boy that place is busy .
fabulous! thank you
amazing video!!! thank you for sharing
It's funny how it's supposed to be so welcoming and when I went in to see about it, they ran me off. Some lady told me to leave and no more tours or anything. and shut the door behind me. That was just about 1 1/2 yrs ago now.
Ti faccio i miei complimenti perchè questo canale è veramente interessante.
Video much improved, thank you!

I would love to live this dream! They sound like a nice couple. I'm not far from Alton, IL, and would like to visit sometime.
Outsranding home. Very disappointed 75 percent was invisible in the dark. Hope someone redoes it with video lighting
I also like the Veranda room. It's special to be able to enjoy the outside with a beautiful view. The entire house is magnificent however I was disappointed to see the bathrooms modernized.

We were not able to tour some of the bedrooms due to them being occupied, but one of the bathroom's on the third floor was period correct! Claw tub and all!
@Lucinda_Jackson
2 жыл бұрын
I think most people appreciate the feel of the baths being decorated with touches from the period but with modern fixtures. Not everyone wants to climb in and out of a deep tub - or is able to.
Agreed on the “new” construction!!! They don’t make houses like that anymore!! 😢
GORGEOUS!!!! 💜💜💜 I need to come be a permanent guest! 😉😘😍💜
The house is very lovely but due to the fact that it was originally built as a family home with the guest table to hear everything through the bedroom walls or was this home properly insulated and soundproofed?
Only 1k likes! What a shame!❤❤❤❤❤

SQUARE PIANO!!!!! YES!!!!!
For all of the ornate decoration and woodwork the house is actually very plain due to the lack of color
❤️❤️❤️
1903? Wouldn't that make it Edwardian, not Victorian? And it's not just the date but the style is clearly Edwardian. Many more prominent so-called Victorian mansions in the US are of the Queen Anne style, distinctly different from Edwardian style architecture.
Not sure if anyone’s me ruined that the.Victorians liked their woods expensive, and dark. They would usually NOT have had it painted. That was much more common in the 1920s and 30s-50s.
His wig looks very good and very expensive
Excuse me, I'm very interested in original old wooden kitchen cabinetry, still installed in the old houses. Do you have any videos where you show this?
Check out heather house in marine city Michigan 👍🏻
Waaaaay too cluttered! Every nook, cranny, crevice and surface has something in and on it. Dusting nightmare.
A magnificent home indeed. The owners have done an amazing job on the whole house. The walls would have been wallpapered pretty much throughout. You need to change the title of this video. This home, while gorgeous, is not Victorian. It is Edwardian. Queen Victoria died in 1901.
Where is the bedroom with the clawfoot tub? Was on the top floor? 🤷♂️

I so love the beauty of this and other houses like it. I'm conflicted because it was built on the backs of immigrants. I am so glad we are not building houses like this today.
It’s a beautiful home but there’s too much clutter in the principle rooms.
“Uhm actually that is an Edwardian mansion” - 🤓👆

That was the style. Victorian style is all about more, as contemporary style is all about less.
To much furniture.
Foyer is pronounced exactly as spelled--not as foy-ay.
It’s sad you can’t see the true beauty of this home because of all the stuff hiding it…
THAT SIR IS NOT A MANSION .. JUST A BIG HOUSE ...
