Touring 1883 Victorian Queen Anne House in Cape Girardeau! (The Glenn House) | This House Tours

Join us in Cape Girardeau as we tour a Victorian Era Queen Anne house located above the banks of the Mighty Mississippi River. Fun Fact: Before mechanical refrigeration became a "thing", what we now call an "Icebox" was called a...refrigerator! (You can see this in vintage catalogs). Oddly, My mother (Born well into the electric refrigerator age) called the refrigerator the "icebox", I sometime slip and do it myself! (Maybe it's a Pittsburgh thing? IDK)

I think they are beautiful. The only down side i can see is the interior is darker than I like. My mother always kept her house dark, although not a victorian.. I really prefer brightness indoors.

I was surprised at how large the upstairs bedrooms were. The dark wallpaper/wall covering made the rooms very dark, the closed wooden shutters adding to the darkness. A lovely house.

I've always loved the old Victorian homes and envied those girls who had replica doll houses. Sadly, many have been destroyed or simply demolished so I loved this video "tour". Which room was my favorite? I would have to say all of them. Amazing that that much period furniture was found to fully decorate the house. 👍🤗

What a beautiful house, decorating is quite elegant. The lighting is very beautiful. I see many of the shutters are drawn to make a more romantic and a mysterious mood. I used to give tours at a Victorian Mansion in Philadelphia and this house reminds me of it a lot. Photos of the house from the period still exist so it wasn't extremely difficult to recreate the carpet and wallpaper. It also has stenciling. Just as in your video, families have donated period furniture including donations from descendants of the second owners. The original owners grew wealthier very quickly and had a larger home built. If you are ever in Philadelphia you would probably enjoy a visit to the Ebenezer Maxwell Mansion

You did a great job of laying in the voice overs and it added to the tour. It might be time for a wireless mic, maybe, so that the sound is really clear. You do a great job with dialogue. *@ **10:51** pause and catch an example of the Victorian Jewel Color, here and Emerald Green, a color that has returned to the current Color Pallet for the "Very New 21st Century Modern Victorian Style in Decor".* ▪ One that will require a most informed Professional Decorator. It is a subject I strongly suggest "Professional" to be used or a Class required for the really gifted DIY'ers, or risk a most noticeable confusing outcome. The original Victorian having such heavy layer of Decor is not the Style of the 21st Century version and it can be an elusive to achieve in its intended style. (Not my favorite of Trends for the obvious, one can imagine, (like finger painting with Oils on Canvas), Oh, lets just dont! Beautiful Green, delicious.

Not all. Preferences varied back then just as today.

I absolutely hate dark victorian colors. They make the house so dark in addition to all the dark woodwork. The kitchen is great for a museum, but wouldn't work in a real home. Other than that it's beautiful.

We definitely recommend checking out the episode of Ghost Hunters that the Glenn House was featured in if you are into paranormal television.

Actually I like your channel. I actually see what you are actually trying to be here. An actual TV presenter for the internet. The actual internet. You're actually pleasant to look at. But I noticed an actual problem. Actually I bet you can guess what one might say to you as honest criticism of your video. Actually. Actually if you don't believe me you should actually yourself, This House Dude, go back and try to actually count all the actual times you actually acted actually avoiding the word um. Good job. It annoyed me when someone goes around having to say 'um' all the damn time.

I’m sure it’s beautiful but you can’t really see because the lighting is so absolutely horrific Therefore after two minutes and 59 seconds invest and I’m going to click off
