Hi Cristina and James, Just really enjoyed looking around your home and wow lots of potential. I can see loads of possibilities with all the land and property you have and whatever you decide to do it will look great based on what you have already achieved with the village house and Andy’s previous projects. With yourselves and Andy on his house you’ll be very busy but the end result will be well worth it on both properties. I keep watching all yours and Andy’s videos with much envy but I’m hopefully going to see you soon when I call in. Keep up all the good work and tell James that tiny little things can happen especially when you consider how much work you’ve all done on the village house and we all know he’ll sort it anyway. See you all soon, Mark. (You know who I am)
Hello! Congratulations on the house and the work you're doing on the entire property. In the kitchen, instead of a fireplace, you could consider installing a wood stove. In Italy, we call them "cucine economiche,", of course they not only serve as a cooking tool, but also as a source of heating for the room. Nowadays, they are available in designs that are both aesthetic and functional, so it could be a great addition to your kitchen and would go along with your intention to go off-grid. Congratulations once again, and keep up the great work!

I think you must stop trying to stop the normal aging of the house. The marks left by the passage of time give your home character and dimention. If you scrub all the stains off the floors and try to make them look new, they will loose their charm. Embrace age in the home the same way you embrace age in your body. Wrinkles, scars, freckles, etc make you YOU. Embrace it and rejoice in it.
@The-Quinta
Жыл бұрын
You'll find with all properties you have to stop the natural aging process, otherwise they turn to ruin. Cristina doesn't want to make the floor brand new, just tidying them up so the can last another 100 years. It's called maintenance. Just like the human body, you have to look after it.
Your home is lovely

Beautiful land, and very interesting outbuildings. I love the domed ceilings, they're like in Barcelona. And the pavilion will look beautiful once finished. That's a huge patio area, maybe have a covered area...a very spacious gazebo, with raised beds on each side, and another fire/chimney. You're both artistic, and at the same time very practical, so I'm sure you'll use it to it's full potential. Quite envious of your plot 💚

I do agree with the previous person regarding the natural aging of the house. I do love those tile floors. The original character should be included in the reno. But I do agree that some things must be updated to the needs of modern living. It's a big beautiful property. The veg garden and the fruit trees. Absolute heaven. I can't wait to see what's next. 🙂👍👍🇨🇦

@@The-Quinta yes whitchever is less expensive and bit more easier to install.
If these tiles are traditional cement tiles, then they can be polished. Best is to have it done professionally. After polishing it's best to have them impregnated. The whole operation will probably be more cost affective then laying a new floor.

And i know everyone has an opinion 😅 (me too) love love love your beautiful floors/tiles, maybe a beautiful rug will help ? You have a huge property in Algarve! Lucky guys! I agree with all your archi/ built options! I think your back yard should be green with pathways. The swimming pool doesn’t meet to be infinity . Infinity swimming pools are hard to maintain . A lot of leaks . You should prepare a landscape drawing and maybe we can comment in! Cheers

what a beautiful property you have. I would also definitely vote for the pavilion to live in : so much space and potential, light and airy. I immediately found myself thinking about how to do this and that. Renting out the main house is of course a good opportunity to make some money, but if it was me I would make sure to have a clear separation between the rented and the private outdoor space. Love you are thinking that big and looking forward to following your journey.
@The-Quinta

Thanks Claudia, It will be lovely when we finish and naturally we would separate the to properties. Keep watching it's going to be fun. 🙂
Thank you Christina for the tour. Lots of space, lot's of plans but require lots of time and money. I would agree with your rental plan but could you sell that part to finance the work on the the Pavilion which to me would be where I would want to live. Love the vaulted ceilings there and so much more space to work with. I would split the patio area for privacy away from the rental and there is so much you could do there, put a marquee up and rent out the pavilion for weddings!
@The-Quinta
Жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching ☺️ We’re not planning on selling, we’ll definitely divide the patio, not sure where yet, but when we landscape then we’ll have a better view! Lots to plan still 😊
I just love you guys I watch all your videos the tour of your house has depressed me I think it's beautiful just the way it is I think you're going to change it so much please consider leaving the floors in the fireplace I would hate to see them go
@The-Quinta
Жыл бұрын
Don't be depressed it's just a house. I think you maybe underestimating Cristina and I. The floors are going nowhere.! The fire place is just in the wrong place which maybe moved brick by brick because the house doesn't get any heat from it. Once we have finished it will be warm and cozy which not only benefits us but the structure of the house.
It's great you both have lots of projects together for the foreseeable future, plus it adds value to the property and future income... win win ☺️

Hi Cristina, please can you turn the horse shoe in your kitchen so it faces up otherwise it lets all your luck run out. One of the old superstitions I try to adhere to. What a beautiful place to live. I love the floors and the marks give it character and let you know that it has lived a good life. Thank you so much for sharing this with us. 💖💖💖
@The-Quinta
Жыл бұрын
Personally I don’t believe in luck. I believe the harder you work the more you have, superstitions can be misleading! An upside down horse shoe is protection, But either way it doesn’t matter. It’s decoration. I do love the floor tiles they aren’t going anywhere! Thanks for watching!

I would say the stains ARE the character of the house. just finish them with a clear epoxy or polyurethane so they are not porus anymore. If you intend to lower the ceiling for insulation all your electricals can go into conduit in the ceiling, I might put a modern type of exposed wire going down to a light switch, it would totally look 1930s! The houses are beautiful and the land to!

Hi James and Christina, wonderful property! Great potential to make it pay for itself. Love that entertainment patio space with weathered cement slabs. Half wine barrels give instant appeal for planting. That huge lounge area gives the impression of being an ex wine cellar. I can see a wedding venue!! Only drawback is a loo for men to use. Anyhow, letting the house is great and less stress, and fun recreating a new living space.Umm, animals are work! Who cares for them when you both want to go away? Maybe let someone else run their sheep there. Veges also need constant care. Bugs etc. Lifes too short, and you want to enjoy it. Veges are cheap for 2 people at markets! This makeover is going to be interesting!💐
