TOUR of our 10-acre SUSTAINABLE FARM
Үй жануарлары мен аңдар
Hey friends!
Take a tour of our 10-acre sustainable homestead in WNC! I raise heritage breeds of livestock: sheep, goats, pigs, chickens, turkeys and ducks! I wanted to share a complete video of everything that is going on over here on our farm.
Hope you enjoy it!
Warmly,
Jackie Ritz

Love your farm and the principles to which you are running it! My wife did the very first online permaculture course with Geoff Lawton, being of retirement age we figured that a few acres would be beyond us with my health issues! BUT that hasn't stopped us on our 1/3 acre, we have 13 types of berries, 23 fruit trees, chickens, soon to add ducks and two or three turkeys just to keep the prickles down! bad in this grain belt! raised bed veggie boxes, glass house, planning soon to also have meat rabbits and get the Aquaponics happening as well! I strongly believe that sustainability is the answer as the world seems so hell bent on destroying each other out of greed! once again we love what your doing! best wishes from Australia

Great video, I I really appreciate the information.
Great Pyrenees guardians of the cuteness. I literally watched this to see that beautiful rock retaining wall. Not sure if it was there for ages or if you built it yourself.
We are starting soon once the current occupant leaves 2 or 3 weeks we will start painting our two bedroom farmhouse on 15 acres and start building and planning for planting and what livestock to buy in the spring so far chicken a donkey a dog a couple lambs for meat we dont eat to much pork I'm 34 and been waiting to live back on a farm for years with the current economy the time is right
Great video ! Greetings from Arkansas!!
What a beautiful farm, and a beautiful family!!!!! I’m in central NC just east of Greensboro but we head just west of franklin a good bit cause we have a buddy that has a cabin up in the hills and I’ve been helping him to finish it up. Do you ever sell any of your young turkeys and geese? I’ve got a 21 acre farm up here that I’m trying to bring back to life and you have some of the most beautiful, happy, and healthy animals I’ve seen anywhere, well done!!!!!

Hi Don! We don't have any for sale at the moment. We just got a bunch of Red Bourbon turkeys and next spring should have loads of babies to sell!
such a nice tour video ^_^
I gotta ask, how is 10 acres working as far as sustaining the feed for the livestock ? Like how many acres do you need for your cows to eat off forage year round ?
Chickens are definitely something we want to get and also rabbits for meat. Do you sell your geese or do they lay eggs too? I love the stream 😍😍😍 We looked for a property with a steam with no luck. New Subbie :)
I love your farm it's a beautiful place may the good Lord bless and keep you and yours

I absolutely love your farm. I’m so badly wanting to get land and do a farm but unfortunately I currently don’t have away. I’m not in a position to get any land loans etc.
I put $40 on that dang lotto... I said, "If I win the 1.6 billion, I'd move to Costa Rica and set up at 50 acre homestead facility!" I'd set it up to have what I wanted as the primary goal, but I'd also consider how to sustain it. Near the beach of course! That'd be the life!

We have a couple of methods: we give the chickens plenty of objects to run under, we have a rooster that keep great watch, we keep turkeys with the chickens. Also, we allow the chickens to hang out with our goats!

Hope no one has to drink the duck poop water downstream
Alot of Muslim immigrants are used to buying live poultry in their country of origin at the market then having it slaughtered in a halal way and cleaned right there. Halal just means killed with a knife in a humane manner while saying "Bismillah" (in the name of God). Depending on the demographics of your area live halal chicken might be a profitable business idea.
