This is not an average house in the US. This guy is a manager in some stupid shipping company, probably making about $200k-$300k. That is not top 1% income for Americans though, but he is almost up there. Average house in the US is about $300k, this house is about $1M.

@@zacattac9498 This is the house of an upper class person. Even in Connecticut, I would say it's about $500,000. The house of a professional, say a dentist or business owner, making about least $200 K/ year.

Not American, but I love American suburbs and suburban homes. There is something unique to them (the openness, all that green and space etc.) that we in Asia don't usually get in cities.

not at all. Living 1 billion light years away from the city to buy massive houses where no one will ever come visit, dont make our lives better. I prefer busy bustling European cities where I can bike to wherever I want to, interact with people, meet beautiful girls in the streets. America is boring suburbia. Most cities are dead .Everything is dark after 7 pm. Except for few cities like New York San Francisco and Chicago, most cities in US are suburbia. And many of the few dense cities in America are filled with crime and drugs. Besides, wasting land and buying excess cars is hurting our environment.

I've gotten the impression that 98% of the houses in the UK are either cottages with 5ft ceilings built in the 18th century or those millions of row houses with 1.5ft wide staircases. The remaining 2% are old castles, footballer mansions and the houses featured on Grand designs.

This isn’t a good representation of what the average persons home is like though, this house is easily 450k (which is the absolute lowest I could imagine a house like this being) probably a lot more depending on location. The average home in the US is about 230k. Just looked at houses in Westport CT and this house is easily 1 mil and thats the low end. In the midwest or the south this house would be about 500k.

This is an old house in America. They were built when the cost of skilled craftsmen was low. Typical new houses are not like this. However, it gives everyone the option of buying a newer house that is not so opulent but all the systems are new, or an older house that is beautifully crafted but probably requires upgrades to systems. People who have good skills with such systems enjoy doing the work and saving money. As is apparent in this video, repairs, maintenance, upgrades and decoration are labors of love.

@@beyondthestars4299 Per Purchasing Power yes, not if you adjust per real value of currency, nominally Argentina will be cheaper. What this means is: A smartphone that costs 700U$D/740CAD or 700€ in U.S-Canada or Northern Western Europe will probably cost around 80.000 Argentinian Pesos here in Argentina , 80.000 at the official exchange rate would be 1200U$D roughly but its basically illegal to normal citizens to buy dollars at the official value, the REAL value is roughly 120 Pesos x 1 Dollar, which means 80.000 AR$ phone converted to real exchange rate would be like 670U$D which would seem reasonable. The trick is that regardless of what value you want to take into account, 70% of Argentinians earn less than 180U$D per Month so everything is well above our paygrade. Housing here is actually super cheap compared to the first world and it's not even very difficult to buy a gigantic empty lot, the problem is building the house fully legally with all the taxes, fees and regulations imposed on you, whatever project you had in mind you usually have to downgrade or else you'll end up paying 200% extra the market price to build a big house yourself on an empty lot. The whole system is ridiculous, this is why i cringed when i see first world leftists asking for even more government in their countries, they have no clue just how close to absolute catastrophe they are right now, SPECIALLY in Europe.

@@beyondthestars4299 Buenos Aires the Capital is a city. Buenos Aires the Province is a province with a bunch of cities. In Buenos Aires the Capital of course housing is extremely expensive, there's almost no more empty lots and the closer you get to the center of the city the more expensive it gets, it's the most developed and liveable piece of the country, kinda like a 2nd world country inside a 3rd world country, much better than Greece, i'd say you can live a life around as decent as Poland in BsAs City. In Buenos Aires province is another story, almost 95% of the province (which is bigger than Utah, for example) is just pure grass land, you can buy 2 sqare acres size empty lot for less than 100K. In any case, salaries are too low, there's too many taxes and regulations, the welfare state is the biggest in the western hemisphere liberal democracies and capitalism and the private sector always gets the blame for the cowboy fiesta the government be throwing out.
