When I drove for schneider in 08 I had the same truck as your 02 ,but one year newer 2003 good running truck

Great tour of the truck, and I drove a series 60 Detroit for few yrs, got around 7 mpg with it...and when you start the rebuilding, please film it!..thanks..

Whalen prayed for. Nice truck. Decisions decisions...She sure started up nice. Easier said than done but starting it up weekly/biweekly a good idea. Also driving it 20 ft forward & back just to get wheels turning. You definitely have a good working know how about engines. Have a good one !

Extreme cold weather plays havoc on machinery. In the prairies while I lived there for two years got a bus driving job. A lot of buses were parked in a big building. Infact the doors to drive in were so narrow turning from the road a driver had better make the turn perfectly because the mirrors had maybe 4 inches clearance on both sides. But sometimes would get assigned a bus parked in the outside parking yard. Started bus up & let run for 15 minutes in the winter but when starting off the tires felt like they were shaped like square blocks & not round. After a mile or two the tires performed ok. The weight of the bus overnight froze the tire with a depressed spot. So frozen that the tire had to roll some distance before it got totally round shape again. Crazy. After a day driving that bus got in a VW bug to drive to my apartment. After driving a big bus & getting into a VW bug WOW !!! Adjustment to my brain. So many things to do in a day & you work those crazy hours so it's sure understandable to get the energy & time to keep your rig started & all....

series 60 are a very easy motor to overhaul. a guy and me used to do a inframe from the time we pulled it in and back out was three 8 hr shifts. that motor don't have glow plugs just throwing that out there

Nice piece of property you have..

I have a 2001 Freightliner Century Class truck that has 1,645,000 miles on it. It has a 60 Series 435HP Detroit and was rebuilt at 1,407,000 miles. I replaced the rods and main bearings at 865,000 and it wasn't really necessary. I bought it in July 2006 and it had 456,000 miles on it and it was a KLLM company truck.

You are correct about the series 60

Mine is the same orange ex Schneider, but 1999 has 500K after overhaul and total of 1.5M miles I need new seats, new triangle door windows are rusty frames, need to change one of front sleeper bushings

Detroit Series 60 are a great engine. Nothing against CATs, but CATs are expensive for parts and rebuild, as a owner operator, that cuts into your profit margin.

Did u have the truck tuned after intake and turbo installed

Thanks for this video , Larry....good job ! For an old truck to fire up like that is the sign of a good well cared for truck. ... A little bit of TLC and you'll be good to go. As for colour.... I'd suggest a non metallic light blue (My trucks used to be painted in a colour called 'Fiesta Blue' ... that was a ICI Dulux 383 line polyurethane paint.)..... A nice bright colour that also stands out in the dark ! As for your channel name .... Nothing whatsoever wrong with what you've got ! People too lazy to type a few extra characters ! .... You could shorten it to IM Trucker maybe ? Oh and if you do go independent , could you pull J.B Hunts trailers , doing the work you do now ?? That sort of work seems to suit you..... Whatever , hope you do well.

Maybe you and John could team drive. While one drives the other could be taking video. Think of the possibilities. While he’s driving you could have the drone fly right outside his window. But you would have to talk to him about running towards the camera when he’s driving.

Seems more reliable than the newer trucks Larry. John old Baby Blue 10 years newer and have had more issues than this truck.

Jeez, I had a 2004 century with a 60 series Detroit and did a rebuild, be fore and after the rebuild it broke down all of the fricking time

Horse a piece...My black pick-up shows winter salt and back road dust... so I wash it... the old pueter gray truck ... looks the same.. clean or dirty... so it hardly got washed... now it's a rust bucket...

There is some I-beams inside the frame that I used blind nuts and put blocking to screw the wood cabinets too. I made sure it was really extra tight and no it didn’t squeak or anything
