Wow that truck really is a survivor. My Classic XL has a rusted frame and 5th wheel.

I just found your channel. Id take this truck over the midroof, im 6'1". Thats the difference between a company truck and an owner op. Owner ops know, if it needs replaced, might as well do em all. RELIABILITY folks. I am a company driver, my truck is so halfassed by the dealership and other shops because corporate doesnt see the value in replacing everything included with what the original problem is. Just fix it enough that it'll pass a dot inspection. I have a friend who ran livestock, the 18 is the only way to go, makes smooth shifts easier to not jostle the animals. I also ran a Cascadia with the big sleeper, only single bunk. Hang a disco ball and some lights and you coulda had a rave in the sleeper. She was massive. Loved that truck

Look how much room these old trucks have to work on them.

I respect all pre emissions engines equally. I have a Detroit 12.7 I agree the Cat 3406 is just as good.

I better check my cross members since you mentioned that. I have been having a very strange shaking that I haven’t been able to figure out.

I watch those crossmembers, I’ve seen a few crack in those areas.

@@TruckerRealDeal for some reason my cross members are perfectly straight and painted but the frame and 5th wheel support is pitted with rust spots. I’m swapping out the shocks and did an alignment. It should be good now we will see.

Thanks and thanks for stopping in. No I don’t but it’s a very straightforward process, just need a steering wheel puller and the socket for the nut that holds the steering wheel in. A battery or air 1/2” drive impact will definitely make removal a lot quicker.
