Well if that isn't one of the most depressing videos I've seen lately. I love history and I love agriculture. I'm doing my best to hold on to a struggling dairy farm myself. Wow, the stories that'll ole barn holds. Video is 22 years old, by the looks of the roof I doubt it's still standing. Regardless, thanks for documenting it. Hay, do me a favor and find the music video, "this empty barn" on KZread. You'll maybe get a sense of what I'm feeling. Cheers mate. Thanks for posting.

It's really heart-breaking to see these beautiful old barns just left to fall down. Every one of them has a story of the country and it's people to tell and that is all being lost to "progress". :(

I could have used that for my shop, storage and barn dances. Still looking. That barn is a classic, what a shame.

I remember this barn. My dad used to keep cattle in it and I spent many hours playing in it. I have visited the old barn at Ministers Island in St Andrews and I can tell you this old barn was far more impressive. When it was torn down, it was like the death of a dear friend to me. Too bad it could not have been saved. It was located in Elgin, New Brunswick. I sure with I knew the story behind it, it looks like it was at one time A very prosperous farm. I love a good story, it's too bad we are so eager to dispose of our history.

I'm sure a great deal of toil and sweat happened in and around this old barn... and there were many late nights and early mornings! A great glimpse back into the past... Thank you for sharing.

A sad reminder of the changing times on the farm. For over the past century, barns like this provided the livelyhood of the family farm. We worked with the dairy cattle and spent most of the day in and around those barns, to milk the cows and take care of them and feed them. We spent more time in the barn than we did in the home. Don't take many years of neglect to destroy them. Todays mega farms have pushed out the traditional family farmers and replaced them with the production line factory farm idealogy. It's not better, just bigger, and the labor is mostly from the lowly migrant workers who have no ties to the land or the community.

The family name was Goggin, but I don't know much about their ancestry. This area had been settled for about 80 years when this barn was built.

@@lg8702 That is possible. Around 1850 some Irish immigrants built a small community about 20 miles from here. It was vacated around the turn of the century (after an infamous murder) so some of the people could well have come to this area. Some of the Goggin's descendants still live in this area so I will try and find out more someday.

Structures like this that were built back in the early 1900's were built to last. My family has a couple pack houses and several Tobacco barns all built in the early 1900's by my great grandfather and his family , and all but one is still standing. we Have kept a Roof on all of them through the years just because they tell a story like Ianbeer123 was saying. They have literally stood the test of time. Structures built now days say 1990 and on will never be around 100 200 years from now. Families built most of these old barns out of necessity. They used what they could gather on their own land and made damn sure it would last as long as they needed it too. No lowes or home depot to buy tools from , no amazon to search out the best price . They used what they had on hand. Its truly sad to think that those days are gone now. These days its all about the "environment.

The no smoking sign is a request of a sick patient. It’s either a sign of respect or a novelty to not smoke in the barn. I wouldn’t think it would be a smart idea anyway with hay and other flammable items. The small blue sign to the right of the no smoking sign reads “ The Randall’s” most likely the owners or past owners. Just a very neat icon while it lasted.

John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. John 3:7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Romans 10:9-10 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. John 3:18 “He that believeth in Him is not condemned; but He that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. Psalm 14:1 The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.
