I think a box truck is optimal for urban stealth camping. Considering sprinters are so expensive. This is gold

A stepvan I think is better since it looks like a service truck and put a fake business sign on each side, like "Joe's Floor Cleaning, Wax, Polish Inc." or "Bob's AC/Heat Service & Repair" and have an email address on it that reflects the same. Also some black numbers on each side fender makes it look even more like a numbered service truck. You then park over night in 24/7 shopping areas and everyone assumes you are there doing some service at night. At a shopping plaza with several stores, nobody knows which place you are working in, LOL.

@Soup Can more good points to keep in mind. I drove a diesel 27' UHaul from Florida to Maryland in 2002 and nothing other than standard driving license needed. My $50-100-50 insurance covered it, but in case, I decided to also add the insurance since it was full loaded with household stuff. I wouldn't suggest something that huge though for a "stealth camper" at all. I doubt one needs a CDL or similar license for a privately owned stepvan, or maybe length and of course GVW would still apply.

Yes, box trucks are optimal sort of. But in my case I do not want to have to get out of the vehicle to enter the living area. Either a hole has to be cut out between the the driving area and living area or purchasing a step van is what I think it really really optimal.

Suggestion for bed - forget putting the sheets down, use 2 sleeping bags to lay on top - you can also zip them together, then sew together two flat sheets, to slip inside of the sleeping bag to sleep on. You can wash the sleeping bags less often, and you can wash the sheet insert more often (easier to wash). Just a suggestion! Nice box Truck Campervan. Have fun! G-d bless!

Nice build, the suspension airbags and moog coils are pricey. I plan on putting coil supports in my '05 E250 to lift it up an inch or so higher. I also have the same wheel size except I went up to 17s. I picked up the coil supports at pep boys for about $20.

I LOVE YOUR VIDEO PRESENTATION!!! lots and lots of great suggestions. The rounded corners on yer cabinets blow me AWAY!! What a classy approach to head bangers! I lived on a West Texas ranch in a popup camper for a year. I learned about a lot of things that a person DOESN'T NEED! I went to town in a suit twice a week. Took showers in truck stops, bought groceries and supplies. Lived large!

What a great build. So many talented people creating great box truck campers. What I like best is the uniqueness tailored to your specific needs. In the beginning I looked at lot RV's but I've decided to build my own to my needs. You really did a great job. I specifically like what you did to rear area with the swing out tire and generator area. I may have to copy that. Well done!

I like your camper build, but I love the way you think. We are watching you approach the maze of electronics and mechanics and building a new moving house with stuff you found alongside the road and in the scrap yard [that's a little joke, but sometimes it sounds like that]. I am impressed with your logical approach to all of the technical decisions one has to make to create a comfortable, safe, camper for the pleasure of your family and friends. And anyone who worries about their dog's comfort enough to create a temp gauge that can signal you when you are away makes you a good person. My mother always said that you can tell a lot about a person by the way they treat their children and animals. Enjoy your creation. You deserve it.

Also, from my old Boy Scout Camp days, an old laundry detergent bottle with the top cut off makes for an excellent bath tote to the showers. You can set it down in the shower, has a handle to hang up and you can hand wash an item or two while at the shower with a little bottle of detergent amongst your other/razor/shampoo/toothbrush/etc.....and FREE everytime you visit a laundry. Makes for a great handheld disposable urinal too and offload the in house system.

Its a really impressive accomplishment jydog! One of the reasons I chose the Ford E350 is watching your videos and talking about the versatility of Fords interchangeable parts. It just makes sense incase you ever break down, you have many options for interchangeable parts to choose from. Im actually thinking of converting to 4x4 in the future just to be able to drive on snow chain controlled roads out here in California and Nevada, not so much for off road driving. Let me know if you need a hand whenever you decide to convert you Van to 4x4. But looking good so far!

It looks like I'm not alone in preferring to cook outdoors. I've seen some people mount a removable table to the side of their rigs under their awning. Nice build. Thanks

Thanks for the video. Love the setup and jealous of your skill set in terms of what metal work you’ve been able to do yourself. I’ve got a 2006 E350 6.0 that is my work van atm but I’ve got plans for it when I decide to shift gears.

Great set up. I like where the fridge is but put it on slides. Easy access from inside and out side.

Very informative , actually I like the look inside , some people like that wood paneling.. that's their choice , also you think of good ideas such as the rounded corners on the cabinets, love the slides and the finger holes for opening, happy camping ! Thanks for sharing 👍
