The pride I felt when he says "we got some soldiers here tonight, Welcome Back!", and the pain I feel when he says "Survivors" hits equally hard on opposite side of the spectrum, respectfully. This is a rollercoaster song that is the epitome of country music and why I will never be ashamed of loving country Music. Aldean is my favorite artist and I make no apologies for that. Kick ass man!

I grew up in a small town in central California in the 1950s-60s. I have no problem seeing the bigotry in your song. I loved my town. They were good, honest people, but although it wasn't called a sundown town it really was. I didn't begin to understand that until my senior year when at a local dance a girl brought her date from nearby Modesto. He was black. Suddenly a group of boys started talking about "getting that n#####." To be an honest, decent man, you need to get honest with yourself. Examine and admit to the underlying truths. BLM is a necessity. Advocating for human rights for everyone is a necessity. We played a major role in making that all necessary. I love country music ... that is honest, loving, and embraces all of us.
