    It's interesting that a lot of people forget that Levy is not the owner he is just an employee . No one argue that he has built an amazingly stable and financial strong club . We now need to increase the quality of the playing staff with Ange in situ as manager of the football club . We need to be able to compete for the top of the table and look to consistently be there . We don't have a divine right to win things but would be good to be in the hunt .

    West Ham game was frustrating and the result disappointing but if we put things in perspective, there is progress since last season but Ange is the first to tell you that Spurs are very far from a finished product and there is along way to go Actually somehow Spurs overtook The Uniteds ( Manchester and Newcastle) and went miles ahead with a young squad and without Kane. Unthinkable a year ago. Tottenham finished 11 and 15 points respectively behind them. Now they are 13 and 9 points behind us.

    We're actually only 4 points better off than we were this time last season. So although I won't deny the football is more attractive, the European spots have just become less competitive because utd, Brighton, Newcastle, and even west ham have had huge drop off's this season. I'm far from ange out, but if we want to get back to regular champions league football. Or heaven forbid winning a competition (which is the progress we really want to see), we should be putting that west ham team to the sword.

    @@jakemaddocks435 I agree, we should, but we didn’t We don’t have the players yet to win a cup. The ones we have might get better or we move on and get new ones. It was hugely disappointing in the cups this season. I truly expect more next season, including progress in the Champions League. This season we lost many points for stupid reasons. Let’s not repeat it

    Genuine questions... 1. Why have spurs only had 1 pen all season? The least amount of any prem club. 2. What happened to the share dividend thing the board did a year ago to release £100m into the transfer kitty. Did they spend it? 3. What's the latest with the sky bar above Paxton Road? Stadium has opened for a while now, and it doesn't look like it gets used.

    Thanks, Ali. I think the only way we could challenge for the PL is if the league continues their stance on punishing teams with points for FFP violations. This will curb spending and recruitment will become more important than ever. If our recruitment team is on point combined with Ange’s coaching and man management ability will give us a good chance. We can’t be like Man U, Chelsea, and Everton where we’re spending like drunken sailors on players who are overly expensive on huge salaries and not good. Plus, Ange needs to take the domestic competitions seriously because if we can win the Carabao Cup or the FA Cup, winning can breed the right mentality and confidence. Thanks again, Ali. COYS! 🙏🏾👍🏾

    Good job on the subject of Daniel Levy and his bonus, if you got a bonus would you take it, he's an employee it's in his contract, like it or not he did what he needed to to earn it same as you or any one else would do whatever it takes to earn your bonus. That doesn't mean I agree with him getting it potentially at the expense of seniors but if it's in the contract Spurs are obligated to pay it. Second thing I'd like to note is the difference between the top 3 teams and 4th and 5th is about 15 goals conceded as you point out our defensive set pieces are costing us, maybe we don't to invest millions in new defenders just invest in better defensive coaches, we'd be challenging top 3. Shortly after the start of the season I mentioned frequently Son wasn't taking any shots from outside the box, I would reference the goal that won him the "Golden Boot", he did at some point score a goal similar to that, so I stopped mentioning it, but hasn't done since I'm glad you've finally noticed. One final thought going back to the financials I have on occasion wondered what would have happened to the club if Terry Venables had gotten his way and taken ownership of it, where do you think we'd be now? Would we have the new stadium? Would we be in the financial position we're in now? I'm pretty sure we'd have had a few more trophies because he was more of a football man, what do you think Alasdair? Have a great day, take care of yourself and enjoy.

    Something struck me about a third of the way through when you said this season that's meant to be a "building season" is miles ahead of last season that was meant to be a "pushing on season". Which is just the same as the year before when Conte's "building season" ended far better than Mourinho's "pushing on season". It's a worrying sign that when there's no expectations, we play well but as soon as there's pressure to push on it all goes pear shaped. Hoping that trend doesn't continue under Ange but when Conte said "the club doesn't like to play under any sort of pressure"... It rings a bit too true for my liking.

    I’d rather just take the investment. Say what you like about Levy, he always protects the club’s financial future. In terms of playing staff, it’s not so much about buying a £100m player, it’s more about getting the right player. That’s been the biggest problem. I believe we’re heading in the right direction, and Levy continues to deliver for us, off the field.

    The weather definitely played a part in our difficulties against West ham. We are a speedy team that likes to play in space. That downpour certainly slowed the game down significantly. Also Sonny was playing his 4th game in under 2 weeks. He was probably and understandably tired. Maybe Richy starting would have been better and bring Son on later. I know Sonny would have hated it but sometimes you need to protect players from themselves.

    Thanks for the video Ally. On the financial side we’ve just had planning permission granted for the 180 room hotel/apartments. I think it’s clear the club don’t want to increase the existing debt to build that and other new phases of the development so they are going to get cash in from investors instead. I doubt very much any new money will go on big transfers unless the slice of the pie sold is very large, I think the club will say “the more we invest the better the future returns will be” which based on what we’ve seen in these results is hard to argue against. Villa lost tonight so a point away at West Ham now feels less terrible and may make a big difference come the seasons end……well let’s hope so.

    Re: goals conceded. 5 most goals scored, so it’s all relative and reflects his risk/reward football. Having said that I feel defensively we were much stronger in the first half of the season when it came to free kicks/dead balls. Re the result, Ange will never admit they were happy to take a point and banking on City to thrash Villa, in which they’ve copped a minus 3 on the goal difference now. An interesting approach, but you could see they were set up as so and if they scored a second in the second half it was a bonus. Ironically, Ange said the players in the final third are rushing, for me I don’t think they’re rushing enough. Almost like Arsenal 15 years ago trying to walk the ball in, I’d like to see more shots on sight.

    Levy awarding himself a bonus based on last year relates to his Conte appt, his decision to keep Conte 2.0 in place (Stellini), and the abysmal end to the season. If I performed like that at my job, I'd be looking at my P45, not a bonus! Not a Levy-Out extraordinaire, everyone has their flaws, but he certainly doesn't help himself.

    Thank Sir Gold for your usual clear analysis of Tottenham's football, also for the insight into the operations of the club. Whilst I enjoyed watching the team at West Ham, there were moments of frustration. i understand that the team is playing a game of patient football, but sometimes that patience causes the team to lose the ball, because there is just too much side ways passes trying to get that through pass into the 18. Can they no longer take a shot at the top of the 18, especially when they have created the space to do so? Maddison now isn't' the same Maddison before the injury and I do believe that Lo Celso is a better player in the Maddison position and I know that he (Lo Celso) is a frustrated player especially with the role he played when we had all those injuries. Given some investment we might close some of those 9 points next year, but you have to consider city arse and the scousers will also invest.. we're chasing. Where we need to improve 30% the others can invest 10% because they've already raised the bar

We need sharper ball control and I hope our summer transfer window will look to that. I agree with you Alasdair, Gio would have been a much better substitute for Maddison. Hey ho, never mind, if we draw all our away matches and win the home ones then we're guaranteed that vital European football, I've missed it. (PS Levy's bonus is two months wages for Rashford. Yes, I know he's Man U but worth thinking about for context).

Do we need to sell both and raise funds for a Bissouma alternative that way? Will we need home grown player signings - going to be interesting to see what happens. The club really needs to get some transfer fees in this summer rather than all this loaning out. You’d think most are sellable if they mostly have 12 months left as other teams may now be more willing to meet the player values with 12 months left

    As disgusted as I am about Levy’s bonus, my concern about a new owner would be how much money they would take out of the club. I notice no dividends were taken again in that year. If a new owner has to pay 2 bil for the club, he’s going to want a return. There’s good and bad owners out there ( Boehly, Glaziers etc). I think if we have a decent sunmer window I’d still rather the devil I know. As for the seniors, it’s bang out of order, but let’s not pretend we’re the only club doing it. It doesn’t make it right, but new owners could do the same thing. There no guarantees in life, and certainly none in football.

    Regardless of the finances, nothing will change. I hope fans realise that. Every year we think something will be different. It’s been 23 years now? Don’t expect anything ground breaking this summer, especially with an 80m loss. We’ll buy Werner, maybe another forward, possible another midfielder, and a few kids. I don’t expect a proper player like Eze, Olise, Gimenez, or Palhinha to come in. Look out for a curve ball though like selling Romero, it wouldn’t shock me.

    Not great timing announcing that Levy had a bonus paid out last year when people are still peed off over the season tickets going up, but it wouldn't have been earned in that financial year only paid in it. I doubt there is public disclosure anywhere of the full nature of any long term incentive/ bonus plan that was put in place for him and other executives by the remuneration committee (which will be a non exec committee of the board) so we can only guess whether the bonus solely relates to the 2021-22 season which began with the nuno experiment and ended with qualification for the champions league or whether it was a result of hitting a series of long term performance targets.

    Another disappointing result and I’m really hoping Ange is going to get his ideas across to the forwards during the off season as it’s becoming increasingly frustrating that either the defence has an awful showing or the forwards let us down. I can’t see us getting too many points from 3/4 of the remaining games, I I think realistically 5th is where we”ll finish, which is way above where most people expected us to finish, in my mind that’s a progression I didn’t expect, we have 4/5 players playing under Par for a number of games, that’s why I concluded the potential 9 point loss that’s possible just around the corner, to emulate Cities achievements, we have to play with the same intensity and consistency, Mr Spursy has to vacate the build forever😂

    completely agree with this. He's trying to do it all, and I think that has coincided with a drop in bissoumas form, but he operates best buzzing around our forward line.

    @jacklane3679

    Yeah he's seeming to come shorter a lot at the moment, but not popping up high on the left side where he could beat someone 1v1 and create something... I think Werner plays a bit different to how Son and Richy did on that left side, so Madders is playing deeper and more inside more often, which isn't ideal. At the start of the season it was different, but also Bissouma is coming a lot deeper to pick up the ball as well. I'm not sure if this is just a collective confidence issue where they want to pick the ball up in easier positions, under less pressure, but it's noticeably different to what made us such a threat at the start of the season.

    @@jacklane3679 yeah werner was so quiet second half partly because he was so isolated, if he couldn't win his 1v1 he'd cut back and wait an age for maddison to catch up, by that time they had at least 8 men behind the ball. I did also find that everyone was just shuttling up and down the pitch in straight lines, and our passing was going in straight lines too. More triangles and more diagonal runs were needed to really pull apart their defence.

    Another excellent vid ! Thank you Alasdair. Yeah I'm worried, not for the first time, about our poor defending on corners. I repeat, a defender needs to protect Vic on corners as every opponent now knows this is a Spurs weakness. They simply block Vic and so it is difficult for him to get out and punch the ball away. Just put a defender between Vic and the opponent trying to block him. Also, our defenders need to jump and not watch on ! Like you, I think the lack of variety and creativity was an issue, but West Ham were there for the taking ! They didn't impress me at all. By the way, Woolwich beat them 0-6 !!!... So yeah it frustrates me to see we can't beat an average team like West Ham. If they were a good team they would not have lost 0-6 vs the others down the road. I'm a bit worried, Alasdair, our last results have not been great except for the Villa game. We don't have the excuse of tiredness, and our squad is full. So what is happening? I really love Big Ange but the team has been frustrating me lately. Can we please win at last convincingly and easily on Sunday? COYS

    So how would that injection work? If Levy values the club at roughly 4bn (remember that being a figure that was bandied about last year) and some investment fund wants to buy say 25% of the club (just to keep the maths simple!) what percentage goes to Enic and what (if any) goes into the club? Is that then released into the club or are they told “now you need to stump up 100 million a season to top up our budget”? I assume it would be the latter?

  • @bobp4

    @bobp4

    There are various ways of doing it but in this case the club will likely create new shares and sell them to the new investor. Current owners shares therefore get diluted (they go from owning say 100% of the club to 80%). None of the funds would go to the current owners, instead the new money would be used by the club to fund both capital projects (ie the hotel) as well as more funds available for future transfers. This is what Levy is referring to when he says 'increase the equity base'.

  • @druidnia

    I don't mind 6% increase across the board but stripping the 65+ season ticket concession shows a lack of loyalty to fans who have supported Spurs through thick and thin since the 1950's or earlier. That's the policy which really does't sit well with me, especially when Levy pays himself a 3 million pound bonus a year whilst owning 500 million pounds worth of shares, whilst the old folk have to worry about whether they can afford the heating in the winter. It's a pretty disgusting move to be honest
