I'm curious how a Dogs of War faction would work. They aren't really a faction, and I don't think they own or fight for land. So they would basically be a mercenary system for all of the factions?

Well, for a caster Lord Vilitich the Curseling could also be a possibility.

IN one of the recent interviews (Its on KZread, don't know which one but its on the TW channel) when asked about the upcoming DLC/Pre order bonus, he said "There is a particular character we have been looking for a way to work in since the beginning, and this gave us the perfect opportunity to do that", and seeing as how Engrim is in the trailer, that's whom I would bet on as a companion addition to compliment Wulfric. But who knows. But he was OBVIOUSLY at least an inspiration for that trailer, if that's not Engrim himself (I think it is...Looks just like old artwork of Van Horstman) which means he was considered in the beginning. There is another Chaos Sorcerer, who is cannon and would fit better with Norsca though...And that is Aekold Helbrass. Although formerly Empire, he lived among the Norscans, and was corrupted. Originally studying their culture, he ended up being tempted by Tzeentch, and was gifted with the "Breath of life", and could turn wasteland into meadows, and resurrect the dead....But he doesn't fit the trailer so....Engrim is my guess. It would be a perfect way to finalize the first game, seeing as how many speculated that the trailer showed Engrim. And while, yes it was a SCROLL that corrupted him, and not a book, this could just be a minor oversight.

I think that quote was about the Old Friend, which I personally think is very likely Krell. "In the beginning" of the trilogy, Chaos wasnt even supposed to be playable, and Norsca certainly wasnt. I'd be surprised to see Egrimm this early honestly, I think his best shot is game 3 with a Tzeentch faction, but even that is a bit of a longshot. Vilitch the Curseling and Kairos Fateweaver seem more likely, but I guess it depends if CA combines god-aligned Daemons and Warriors together into same faction, or keeps Daemons and Warriors of Chaos completely separate.

I can see Wulfrik The Wanderer getting a battle at the end of the campaign like the WE and BM where he fights Archeon to prove himself to the Chaos gods.Or maybe somthing similar to Bretonia when they get to choose a "Crusade" which in his case would be picking a LL such as Karl or Grimgor and once he defeats that LL you win.

I can see wulfrik the wanderer as a really fun AI enemy, I can see it now. Karl Franz and his two armies moving to take out a beastmen horde, when blam Wulfrick teletports right in front with an army of Norse at his back and because of his insult ability he can single out the army he wants, Karl Franz, and suddenly your in a fight for your life.

I think the wanderer horde would need some ways to cover the map fast. Like challenging one specific lord, and appearing at the closest coast, then fail or win, he would have to target, or be targeted by another faction and repeat.

Hope it really is Norsca. Even if you wont play the race it will make the raid from the north much more interesting on the campain map. Like they say in the video

Maybe they could also make it that Chaos can conquer ot absorb Norscan Tribes in some way to open up more ways to play them? While I wouldn't want them to get everything, it would be kind of cool if Chaos could recruit Marauders and very specific monsters (maybe specific to each settlement or province) there and have fallback settlements.

Trajan Lore-wise, it is the sort of question of who would win in a fight, Thor or Zeus? An argument could be made for both. In game, I think it has a lot more to do with how canny the player is with their LL and in a straight fight (no abilities), I think it depends on who hits first.

I would like to see two kinds of werewolves or skinwolves, a more common one that is somewhat like the Beastmen Gor Herds, wielding dual axes, and a much more monstrous version that is proper monstrous infantry that maybe just slashes its enemies with it's large claws.

It would be cool if he had the ability to zip to any faction leader in an instant, maybe for a big cost of gold, but u have to be sure you can beat them because you cannot retreat unless you win the battle against the legendary lord

I think they could also spice it up by adding some units that were left outside Warriors of Chaos (like or not, Norcans and Warriors of Chaos are bound together) : Hellstriders of Slaanesh, Chimerae and Chaos Warshrine are perfct candidates

Due to us going to the new world and I have read the 8th army books do you think we might get The amazons as a sub race to play I read somewhat of lore. but I think it would give so more flavor to the new world. Now I'm a noob to Warhammer lore so I might be asking a dumb question but I just want to know your response to this. P.S love the vids big of total war keep up the good work

I think the main restriction is each army needs to have had actual tabletop armies. Amazons had one unit in a mercenary book and GW control their franchises fanatically so CA coming up with a new army is out of the question. Was surprised by Chaos Dwarfs though.

I would like to see the option being implemented of the chaos warriors confederating with all the norscan tribes. I mean it is possible for basically any other faction and considering that the chaos armies use the same troops I don't see why it shouldn't be possible

Great video, Ind and Sotek! Although, having the two Norscan factions, it would be nice if CA went back to older editions and made one of them a "good" faction, with diplomatic bonuses with Empire states and the ability to resist Chaos corruption for example. While, Wuflrick would lead the Chaos aligned one.

Quite right. It's just because Skeggi are as far from Chaos as a stick is to a knife, so having some "good" aligned Norscans could be fun. They could also be spiced up if CA gets adventurous and creates the 'lore of Mannan (the God of the Sea)' instead of a more Chaos aligned thing for example.

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSS! I exclusively play Chaos in quick match. Its rough. Lets hope they flesh the roster out better with some more cost effective units.

Indy every time I go to play multiplayer on warhammer I see you're game with the mods on... it's like so close to getting in a game vs you but so far haha

Sometime in the trilogy I want to see Throgg so bad, please. Also the kidder MiXxu who has fleshed out many minor factions/subfactions made a legit good Norsca overhaul, of course it niffscopes the existing assets but it's surprisingly good. I also want to see Krakens act like naval bombardment in FOTS

I think maybe Norman's will have their settlements in Norsca, but not be able to settle anywhere else.

As excited as I am for this I will miss Feldman ingerson coming behind and destroying settlements with full stacks of chariots and marauders :(

I would love to have Wulfrik the Wanderer as a Legendary lord :D When i first heard about him from Arch when he made lore videos and lord speculation before the game came out i hoped he would be one of the chaos legendary lords :) But considering Chaos kinda was a wet fart i would love to see him in a refreshing new minor faction ;)

I think ability to duel the lord of the enemy army before battle starts would be a good mechanic and after seeing the dragon vs dinasour animations in e3 trailer I hope those animations would be matched ones.I wouldn't enjoy it after the battle starts.

You never said anything about the Fimir units am I correct? Or are you saving that for another video? I really think you should do a video about all the scrapped and discontinued army's and races that people may not know about as I'd love to learn more about warhammer :)

milkandcookiesTW When you started talking about giving Wulfrik the Wanderer insane movement speed on the campaign map, I just started thinking about how fucked people will be trying to actually fight him if they're playing on Very Hard or Legendary Difficulty, when they try to intercept him and the A.I. does what it usually does, it will puss out should your army be at all intimidating and will try to draw you away from your only settlements. Then your enemies (essentially everyone aligned with Chaos, Order or Destruction depending on who you start out as) will fuck the rest of your settlements.

Im guessing we'll see lords of pre-existing tribes so from what I know these are the lords/famous persons from the norscan tribes in-game that are around at this point: Sarls: Wulfrik the Wanderer Graelings: Scylla Anfingrimm or Haargroth the Blooded Skaelings: Egil Styrbjorn Baersonlings: Beorg Bearstruck (were-bear) or Aeson the Fallen (mutalith vortex beast) Aeslings: Unknown Varg: Surtha Ek Bjornlings: Unknown Troll Country: Throgg, King of Trolls I'd like to see Harry Hammerstorm (the Hammer). Harry Hammerstorm was the character on the cover of the first edition of Warhammer fantasy battles. Other Norse include: Lord Mortkin (hates Ostland and the von Raukovs for burning Norscan villages in retaliatory raids.) Valkia the Bloody (a Daemonic Valkyrie dedicated to Khorne. Probably from the Aesling or Varg tribes). Valnir the Reaper (likely from the Bjornlings as many tribes from the bjornlings are dedicated to Nurgle) If Egrimm van Horstmann was included he'd likely be part of the Crow or Raven Tribes as they are dedicated to Tzeentch but I'm unsure where they are located in Norsca. Ragnar Paingbringer (a lesser known chaos lord who burns part of the Wood Elves forest to the ground using you guessed it CHARIOTS (specifically the Gorebeast variant)) honestly Chaos has many champions. In early editions many champions were from the Kurgan (like the norscans but from the steppes of the Chaos Wastes to the east. So like mongols and huns and goths and scythians etc) the other main component of the mortal followers of chaos were the Hung who originated from the steppes above Warhammer China (think mongols and xiongnu). Chaos has a lot of interesting characters, quite a few of them are dedicated to a particular god however. Though in TW:W1 we did see Sigvald the favorite of Slaanesh and Sarthoriel the Everwatcher a greater daemon of Tzeentch so who knows.

So you think Norsca and Sarl are going to be added to the Old World map alongside Skaeling and Varg?? or do you think they will just replace them? Also I really think the Tribe Awakening game mechanic that the WoC currently have will be given to Norsca as it would make more sense and that the WoC will have all brand new mechanics that suit them better :)

Will you be getting early access to warhammer 2 this time around? I would assume so due to your closeness with the creators. Either way, thanks for all the great content, always refreshing and informative!

So is Wulfrik actively serving the Chaos gods or rebelling because of his curse? I know little about the tabletop. I just assumed eventually he'd have to challenge the gods themselves if he runs out of opponents.

They should come out with a DLC based around Karak Eight Peaks where the Greenskins, Skaven and Dwarfs fight in a mini campaign.

How would that work in Total War though? Karak Eight Peaks is only one settlement. And they've kind of cut themselves off from doing that already because of the King and the Warlord, they wont do DLC for an already released DLC

BTW, when I say 'levels' I mean the floors that make up a Karak.

In my humble opinion, I figure the Fimir wont appear because they were from a much darker and edgier time in WHFB and were retconned for various reasons, not least because they probably stepped on the Dragon Ogres toes. I can see the Norscans sharing alot of Chaos monsters (Giants, Feral Manticore, ect) What I feel they should do and might do is round out their base first. Some Marauders with spears or something. Next, foot skirmishers. I'd love some Marauder Axe Throwers and Javlienmen, because they'd synergize so well with the rushy builds Norsca will favor. Better yet, they can be akin to Arrer Boyz in that they can kinda hold their own in melee against other low teir infantry. Moving up in tiers, I would expect some higher up infantry. Perhaps some well armored Hurscarls or even Norscan Berzerkers, something mid tier and capable of holding the line. With that though they need to give them some proper melee cav. I like the idea of mounted Hurscarls, or a variation of the current Norscan Horsemasters that is more melee focused. Something quick, middling, perhaps capable of handling Empire Knights in a pinch through raw charge damage to compensate for being more lightly armored. Next, the proper monsters. Were-beasts is totally a must, its really neat and fits the asthetic perfectly. Skinwolves are by far my favorite and I hope to Khorne we get us some man eating puppies. However, logically, Skinwolves should have to share territory with Chaos Spawn and Chaos Trolls. I think that theres no reason Norsca wouldnt have these, as they are a Chaos faction/subfaction staple and would pad out the monsters so to speak. Chaos Spawn are great because they wont break and murder low to mid teir infantry, Trolls are just brutal linebreakers and their regen+armor piercing just makes them so good even with shit morale. But where does that leave Skinwolves? I think they will be glass cannon, much like Vargheists. Think about it, fast as cav, terror causing, maybe armor piercing (Giant fuck off claws) but they would be unarmored, and though they'd have strong regen and frenzy, I can see them dropping much faster than Trolls or Spawn in a frontline engagment. Skinwolves should be backline marauders, eating skirmishers and tieing up cavalry. Meanwhile I doubt we will see Ettin, but with the new focus on dragons, I think we could see the Ice Drake, but chances are we'll just get a Feral Chaos Dragon. If we get both, that'd be neato, but if we do I almost want to see the Ice Drake as a flightless dragon-esque thing. It would be cool to see something akin to a giant chaos infused monitor lizard stalking the field, eating knights and freezing infantry to death. I can see the War Mammoth falling into the same vein as the Arachnarok, but maybe more verstile with better ranged support to compensate for less armor and speed. War Mammoth will probably synergize well with a Giant, and should probably trample one on the charge. Thems my two cents, but I think largely Norsca will keep alot of its shared Chaos units and we wont see much other than a few choice addons to give them a unique spice.

CA confirmed that there are two new monsters coming in the pre-adopter bonus with that faction, so any idea what kind of monsters could be? It was said "new" so I quess no "Spawns" allowed.

They just said plural "monsters", so could be lots more than two. But as we covered in the video, Skin Wolves, Fimir, Chaos War Mammoths, Troll variants, ice dragon variants, and some other things from the Monstrous Arcanum all could be on the table

Heh Fimir as a race were present in the fist edition of the Warhammer Fantasy, but I guess were a bit forgotten later on. Or maybe the got extinct? ;)

I think they were essentially squatted in 4th edition and then came back as a supplement in 8th

I would really like to see Vardek Crom (or Crom the Conquerer) but I think he is unlikely

Does the gift of tongues only apply to insults and not speech in general? Because, if so, that's seriously amazing!

Speech in general. He can communicate with anyone in any language, he just happens to most often use it for insults before he kills people ;P

Personally I would like a faction in Norscans that resist Chaos and fight against them, From long ago I remember this was a part of the Norscans until that was changed to them being just chaos followers. One thing that always confused me is Chariots for Norscans ????? they are a sea people from rocky ground, the Norse had limited use of horse. Now I know there are chaos people who do use chariots as they come from plain's.

No mention of Beorg Bearstruck as a possible legendary lord?

What about Aranessa Saltspite?? I think she could fit in the Norsca army and they did say in an interview that they want to try to implement more female characters. Also I think her in game model would just be so badass to see :p

you forgot about bjornling, i wanted to know the story behind them appearing in the south rather than the north. nonetheless a really informative video!

There's no real story to them appearing in the south, CA just realized that there needed to be a threat to the Badlands and Estalia/Tilea so they introduced a bunch of stacks spawning there during the Chaos invasion. Glad you enjoyed!

I want Khalac Swordsson. Not gonna happen, but he is a very underrated Champion.

I think the troll king is a bit more useful than the khorne champion. Expecially scince Norsca needs him and his Troll Country to be a fast forward outpost for them. Without it they'll be run over by Winged Lancers... Ice Dragons are a pretty frosty creature. Maybe they could make them balanced by making them very slow as the ice works against them too even if they're mostly immune? Actually, Ogre Thundertusks match Warmammoths in size. I belive they are a bit higher and wider, so yeah. Norsca would actually be a strong contender to recruit Chaos Ogres as their cheap tier-1 monsterous infantry. I can see Bearsonling Skintearers as a Regiment of Renown if they decide to give them. Overall, I just wish that Norsca and Chaos Warriors to have entirely diffrent unit roosters with the exeption of some base infantry and monsters as the ones who sell the game would propably brag abaut unit variety for as low of a cost for them as possible....

If CA makes them playable, they will for sure have a very different roster than Warriors of Chaos. I think Throgg King of Trolls is a pretty likely choice as 2nd legendary lord yeah.

I just really don't like units repeating themselves across diffrent races and subfactions having too much in common. Imagine how the same hounds of chaos and other monsters hurt my soul when I see them in the beastmen army. Couldn't they just reskin them and give a little bit diffrent stats????

So how strong is the wanderer compared to the other legendary lords according to the lore? He's some lord choice for a minor faction so my first impression was that he wouldn't be that impressive. But your introduction paints a whole oher picture. So how strong is he compared to the other mighty legendary lords in warhammer total war?

His entire premise is that he can duel and beat many of the worlds greatest champions. He is killed by Valten in the lore, but hes definitely a badass. And hes a Warriors of Chaos lord choice in 8th edition. So hes pretty terrifying. Dont think he could beat Durthu or Kholek in TW, but certainly could beat some of the other lords
