Overall I think Syracuse is the best settlement in the game because 1. They can recruit spartan hoplites, which only one other city in the game can, and 2. The port placement allows it to be both a trading and military hub for recruitment. Also lol, Ducets are from eu4, denarii are from rome.

Can you recruit Spartan hoplites outside Sparta, in Rome remasterd ? I never knew about that...

@@excommunicatuscm1154 spartan hoplites are tied to a “hidden” resource (similar to camels and elephants) that only exists in Sparta and Syracuse. With some modding, you can give the hidden “spartan” resource to any region you want, but in an unmodded game (both from ‘04 and remastered) only Sparta and Syracuse can recruit them. A similar system is in place for recruiting Legionary First Cohorts, which hold a legionary eagle and can only be recruited in regions with the hidden “Romans” resource, which only resides in Rome itself.

pozdrav, mislio sam da si Rus zbog naglaska, sad vidim da si naš čovek.. odlični su ti videi, svaka čast.. ovo sa najbogatijim gradovima baš pomaže, mlatim pare samo tako.. je l znaš, možda, koji su najbogatiji gradovi u barbarian invasion?

This list is solely focused on trading resources. High-population settlements that send merchants to these provinces can be much more valuable than the cities in these provinces.

@@strategydux Budem budem :), ali da budem iskren prva kampanja koju sad igram iskljucio sam opciju merchenta. Imao sam losa iskustva u Medival 2, malo para a puno micromanaga. Mozda je ovdje drugacije isprobat cu u nekoj drugoj kampanji.

Thank you for this it was very helpful but it makes me annoyed how Carthage is not even in this list which just tells me the game did take into account how rich it was since it was THE trading power of the world at the time and that should have been reflected in it.

Yes, historical perspective is not there. The only way to fix it was to give more traits to merchants which are receuitet in city of cartage or something like that

Hey Dux, this video is world class and really helped me understand the game on a deeper level. I had one question, you speak of resources being tier 1 to tier 5? I have tried to find a reference for this tier system and cannot find a list of high value products or low value products on a tier system. Is this just your own reference or is there a list? I have been working through your videos and they are literally changing the game for me. Rome Napoleon next. Thanks and kind regards :)

Hey man thanks for your comment and kind words I am really happy if you enjoyed. Tiers are my reference to make it a bit more clear for ppl to understand :D it is based on value, importance, scarcety, bonus etc

Good work however you should take into account base farming level which decide how much your settlement can eventually grow in population (which produces tax) and also how many other provinces your province borders. More bordering provinces means more trade.

Hey Michael. Yea farms doe make more income but I tried to focus on resources mostly because this was a build up on Merchant guide. to help you decide where to send Merchant. But land routes are making less money in general than marine routes. I hope you enjoyed it never the less and will stick around for some more videos. You should request a topic maybe for me to make :)

Good guide. Just please, take into account that when referring to specific cities (or any specific name that only refers to a single entity) you should use "the" and not "a". So For example, its "THE city of Antioch in THE province of Syria", not "A city of Antioch in A province of Syria". I'm not a native english speaker myself and I also make lots of mistakes, so please, don't take this in a negative way. "Most" and rich"-est" are reduntant. Its "the richest" without "most". And in the case of Asturica, I think the c is hard (so, something like "Asturika") but thats in basque and spansih, It might be different in english.

Rhodes is good strategic settlement and nice place to send merchants from but not to :D. This is list of Richest settlements based on resources, as it is add-up to the Merchant guide video. Rhodes has no resources so if you sent merchant from there somewhere it will make decent money but better to have salamis than Rhodes for money only :D

Greece can have good metwork because they neighbour lots of towns and can grow fast early. But based on resources exchange they are not :D
