Total solar eclipse in Syracuse, NY

Uncertain weather meant spotty viewing for eclipse goers across Central New York, but clouds parted at the Syracuse Inner Harbor at just the right moment to reveal the total solar eclipse April 8, 2024. The Davis and Stevens families from Syracuse enjoyed the spectacle, along with hundreds of others who turned out for the event. This video shows the dip to black and captures the reaction from the crowd as the clouds parted and totality was visible. Read the full story here: l.syracuse.com/k1hPR6

I would not be happy if I had to drive far and be around crowds to watch that just to have those screaming girls next to me.

I saw the eclipse and it was thrilling. People shared eclipse glasses and a little girl gave me glasses for myself because she had several pairs of glasses. I had a fun time seeing the eclipse.

I was up by Montezuma or something which is 40 minutes from Syracuse and the clouds were covering. I went dark and it was an amazing experience but I wish there were less cluds

How sad that you all had to deal with those nasty clouds, especially when a few days ago the forecast was more optimistic. But it's great that the clouds parted for a moment at the right time!

Glad I didn’t have to sit next to the screaming girls that had no eye protection on. To me, a solar eclipse is a time of wonderment and awe.

I was there. it was magnificent despite the clouds, which, indeed, parted on queue to allow us to view this miracle of the cosmos

In 1968 there was an eclipse that I saw in Howard Beach, Queens New York, I was about 5. I still remember clearly how everything got quiet and dark. A great experience! These people will never forget it, at least I hope.

Whatever passed in front of the sun was traveling in the opposite direction of the moons path, how am I the only one to notice that?

I wish I was able to see the eclipse from my home state of Wisconsin. It was to cloudy to see it.
