I am shocked by the people commenting here that think this is okay behaviour by the police officers. This is NOT OKAY, this young woman deserves to be treated the same as you and I are. People say Black Lives Matter, well so do disable people's lives matter. Racism comes in all sorts of ways, racism because of colour and racism because someone may look or act differently. Police officers should take a humanity course automatically before getting their badges. Before saying this is not a big deal, remember it could be your child or your grandchild one day in the same situation, do you want her/him treated differently from others because they look or act slight different.

I agree Kathy, but if it was a white heterosexual male that was being mocked because of their disability(s) ... it would not be on the news, nor addressed by the Chief, nor the OHRC and bad cops know it while good cops stand by and say and do nothing - it's an opportunistic chance to abuse persons with disabilities in the worse way possible.

Nice try using your brain but you failed. If this is not ok then making fun of anyone behind their back is not ok and requires apology. I'm sure you and everyone else here has made fun of someone behind their back... and if you want her treated the same as a normal person then that would include talking behind their back. The cops never intended for her to hear it and just because it got recorded doesn't make them any worse than anyone else here who didn't get caught. All you hypocrites condemning the cops should take a good look at yourselves before you step up on your high horse of ignorance.

These tens of thousands of 'apologies'...of course they do not represent the tens of officers who do not act as tyrants.

Anybody know how this video got leaked? Must have been a officer who reviewed the video as they have access first.

If you really want to send the message that behavior like this won’t be tolerated then you really need to fire the police officers involved. This kind of behavior has become the norm, not the exception and I think it’s high time we started holding the police accountable for their actions! While an apology is nice, it doesn’t do much to change the behavior!

Oh, I'm SURE those officers are "devastated" over their actions. They should be fired, and when an officer IS fired, he/she should NEVER be allowed to carry a badge again.
