What I saw from Knies was pretty promising last night. He’s got some size with a youthful jump in his step (similar to Matthews in his first season imo), and plays a bit like a younger Hyman with his puck battling along the boards and good with retrievals. From what I saw last night, scouts definitely overstated his skating as a weakness. He didn’t seem to miss a step in that regard. Like you said he won’t generate offense at this point so I think at this early stage in his career, he should be playing with Mitch to build his confidence, as long as it doesn’t disrupt the play of the rest of the top 6 that much

Yeah I was surprised he was able to keep possession in the nhl in the same way he played in the ncaa.

I think Knies isn't ready and should be held out of the lineup unless injuries become a problem moving forward. We're trying to win a cup, not advance one players game.

Contrary to belief, you don’t really need a journalism background to work the same job I do. You just have to know sports, have strong writing skills and know the right people. You won’t get hired based on where you went to school or your grades. This channel was a huge help on my resume

Kyle Dubas also saying minutes ago that Samsonov will not dress in their last two games of the regular season. He has been dealing some stuff and they're resting him. Joseph Woll will play. This bothers me for a few reasons. We’ve seen Samsonov pull up and look uncomfortable after plays the last few games. Why did we risk playing our best goalie in a game that didn’t matter to us? In the grand scheme of things, that game was massive for the Eastern Conference Playoff picture. But meaningless for the Leafs. The devils didn’t start Brodeur in the final game of the 06/07 season. A game the Leafs needed them to win to make the playoffs. So why did the Leafs take the moral high road here? What do they get out of it? Are the refs gonna start calling things fairly for Bunting or something? What do they get risking their number one goalie? I’m confused.

That makes me so happy to hear. Not that he’s dealing with stuff but I’ve been so freaking nervous, especially last game watching him. He’s played so hard, need to let this man rest. Also thanks for the work you do brother wish you nothing but the best

It's the easy route to call those games meaningless. On the surface they appear to be, but there still exists potential for Leafs to finish 2nd overall which could have home ice implications in future rounds. Those points have potential to still have meaning. It's also reasonable to consider that that game was Leafs last opportunity to have a direct impact on the wild card spots and it's likely that they have designs on who they want to be where down there. Who do you prefer playing Boston, and an element of commitment to NYI who may be a valued trade partner.

It is how we got them to let us use an emergency call up on woll with 0 cap hit. They didn't want us to use an ato goalie and this was our way of saying he isnt available.

Keefe shouldn’t have played Ilya in insignificant games period. Dubas shouldn’t have signed Murray period. I agree with Knies’ signing; also subsequently risking not being able to call-up Woll for their previous game. All these mistakes are truly that; mistakes which are in my opinion, are negated by all the stellar moves that both Dubas & Keefe have pulled to build LeafsNation a squad who actually deserves our praise and hope. Shitty sitch sure, but things could be substantially worse.

The league hates Toronto... plain and simple. The refs are biased against them (especially Bunting) and the league doesn't like the way the Leafs circumvent the cap system, which other teams do as well, a messed up cap system the NHL created. I wonder how the NHL would do without all that Leaf money. The NHL is the most confusing and messed up sports league this side of the Rio Grande.

it is so incredibly foolish to waste a year of his entry-level contract. if this team isn't already good enough to go deep he's not gonna make that difference. he had a total of zero NHL games and it's a huge gamble to assume that he's going to step right into an NHL team and make any kind of impact. yet again it's the Toronto Maple Leafs organisation and fans being overly optimistic. Remember this in two years when he gets a nice big fat bridge deal or full contracted to do this is still the GM God help us

As I said at the start of the season it is foolish to put two unreliable goalies behind a team you've gone all in on. yet again this is dubious trying to square the circle. You can't spend 33 million on three players and expect the rest of the team to be good enough.
