This long awaited re-issue of the Toronto Hamilton & Buffalo Ry., is now on DVD with Enhanced Video & Audio.
We will take a look at Southern Ontario's popular short-line railway, the TH&B. Since the CPR took over full ownership in 1987, Canrail Video decided it was time to take a look at the sights and sounds of the last remaining GP7 and GP9's..
Join along trackside, as we watch a parade of trains traverse the mainline between Hamilton and Welland. Scenes of switchers working Aberdeen Yard and Stelco in Hamilton. We also take a very quick look at the long abandoned Waerford Sub. We will see a rare visitor from the Algoma Central Railway leading an acid extra.
Pacing along Lawrence Ave, steep grades, beautiful scenery and Audio enhanced into 5.1 surround sound will make you want to watch this classic railway over and over again.
Approx: 51 Minutes--Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround

Agreed
I REALLY wish I grew up during this time period..so many cool train lines.
This is awesome! I'll been looking for a video on the TH&B. My great grandfather worked on the TH&B from 1923 to 1969. He really loved his job.
I grew living close to TH&B line in Dunnville. Had a tree fort in a massive maple tree above the tracks. I will definitely order this. The spur is still in use now, CP runs the line and what used to be a 2hr run now takes closer to 5 due to the lines disrepair. A favorite place to sit and watch the trains was at the CN / TH&B crossover. CN stopped using the Fort Erie to Woodstock line in the late 70's. CN gave the children in the schools a free ride just before shutting down.

Absolutely, and Thanks for watching!
What's with the ACR 188 Engine on the TH&B? I worked on the ACR back then and rode that engine a lot and didn't know it was down there? We had a some really nice Engines back then in fact were one of the first to acquire Diesel Electrics back in the day and this fleet and some GP's were pretty much my daily drivers! I ran mostly out of Hawk Junction to Michipicoten Harbour and to Franz, Oba and Hearst jobs. Of course I held the Sault yard job switching the Steel Mill/Paper Mill and the passenger/tour train runs but my seniority was mostly on the North End for most of my career there!
The two Geeps in the consist ran "Elephant Style" Lash-ups.

Yea and also back then there was so much activity in and around rail yards that the paint artists (sorry but it's now somewhat racial to call them paint polluters wow) anyways yea the ones that mark up everything as if they have the right to just deface something omg don't get me started on this. Anyways the point is back then with 4 man crews and yard switching pretty much alive 24/7 the "paint artists" or lack thereof were because they'd either get stoned (literally a freakin rock chucked at em) from the old heads to get the "f" off the train...time healed everything sadly and now the peons just get to spray their little paint cans wherever cause it's their right....pffft. This world ugh...

I don’t know
That would be up to Canrail Video productions, you can check out his website and contact Rob McCormack of Canrail Video. Green Frog Prod.
CP Rail bought it. You still see the odd THB car on CP lines.
T.H.&.B. should stand for "To Hell & Back"

This is a great video. I just ordered a copy. Do you know of any seventies-era footage of the TH&B?
@TheCprailfan1 agreed, my uncle got screwed over when CP bought thandb out, he told me he enjoyed working there more.

Did they ever consider preserving at least one locomotive from this Railroad or did they just scrap them all without a care in the world

The TH&B GP7s and GP9s all went to CP Rail. They were renumbered, repainted and rebuilt with low noses. They've now been sold off but one or two still exist under new owners now, you just wouldn't really know unless you know the unit numbering and history. One of the NW-2s is owned by Ontario Southland and preserved in full TH&B colours.
