Make sure you have fresh fuel that is less than 30days old its very possible you have fuel contaminated with water also.

Was really mad when I used my mower one time and it wouldnt start 😒 but I tried your fix and ended just cleaning the jet. She started right up I'm so thankful! Thank you for a good video

It needs to be said that I also just drained the gas, took it apart and cleaned it up and it did NOT start. Has the same sound as when I started. Figured it was worth a try since I'll have to wait for the part, and now I'm more skeptical of the part fixing the mower. very lame

Oh my gawd… I bought a new Toro last year, “guaranteed start” 140cc model. Well, this year, I could NOT get it to start. I read the warranty, saw that if you left fuel in it longer than 30 days, it voids the warranty. Truth be told, I did not drain the gas tank last fall, totally my bad, and the main jet in the carburetor must have gummed up. I am halfway handy, but have never pulled apart a carburetor in anything and was a bit intimidated…but also did not want to pay $100 (give or take) to have it fixed. Saw this video, followed it exactly, and by gawd, it runs like a champ! Saved me money as well as boosting my confidence for fixing the mower. THANK YOU!

You have to wonder - if the manufacturer is so adamant about not leaving fuel in it over 30 days, WHY DON'T THEY INCLUDE A SIMPLE DRAIN VALVE ON THE GAS TANK? Pulling off the fuel line is a stinky flammable mess even when executed carefully, and owner's should have to purchase a dedicated fuel siphon to do it right.

Thank you for this video! I’ve searched/watched countless videos trying to figure out how to get inside my carburetor without feeling like I’d be breaking something in the process, or just how to do it in general. I’ve been getting by all spring/summer (2022) shooting in some carb cleaner, but today my mower just wasn’t having it anymore. So I searched again and stumbled across your video 🙌. It’s been the first I’ve watched with clear video and clear step-by-step instructions. In fact, when I failed to take your advice on taking a photo to remember, I was able to rewind and screen shot some of your footage to reference when putting it all back together. I did have to substitute replacing the main jet part by just flushing it, but I did order a new one. Once it comes in I feel confident in replacing it. Long story short - my mower fired up (and stayed up) immediately! Again, thanks for the video!

Life saver! Had an issue with bad gas and the mower backfired/afterfired halfway through the mow. Called local repair shops and it's a 5-6 week wait to get in for service. I'm an IT guy and barely know what a carburetor does, but I watched this video and followed it as easy as putting together Legos. I didn’t replace the part you showed because my mower isn’t that old. Disassembled like you showed and cleaned everything up and blew out a couple pieces. Once I put it back together it started first pull. That you for your videos. Very helpful!

Just fixed my lawn mower thanks to this video! I was too nervous to take the control rods off, but I was still able to get the jet main out. I just cleaned it, sprayed it with WD-40 as in the video, and put it all back together. Added fresh fuel and it started on the first pull! This was such a confidence booster; wish I had the internet when I was growing up.

This is a great vid and it worked for me today. The only suggestion would be to remove the cover to make it easier to access that tube you point out that will suck up dirt into the carb. It's just 2 screws and the latch under the sticker towards the front of the cover. Thank you for the excellent help. It truly saved my mower.

Thanks for the help. I used throttle body cleaner and cleaned the jet out until I get the replacement parts. Started right up. Thank you.

This got my lawnmower running again! Amazon Had the injector for $17 or the whole carburetor for $40; so I bought the entire carb… easy install and runs perfect!

Guys. Check your kill contact. Make sure when you pull the handle it completely disengages from the contact. I took my Toro all apart. Drained the gas tank, new spark plug, new carbureator. I even cleaned the ends of the magneto. Nothing. Then I noticed when i pulled the handle the kill contact was barely touching which was not allowing it to run. A simple adjustment of the cable and wala! It cranked on the first pull.

Yes sometimes the cable will get rusty and stick causing the cable not to have full travel.

I'm planning on replacing this jet in the next few days. My mower just stopped starting at all in the early fall last year. But anyways, What is kill contact? How do I check this first before trying the jet

Had mine stored in garage and would not start this spring,this seemed to be my problem the cable was a bit loose and the contact was dirty.it cranked after I cleaned it🤷🏻‍♂️

If you put carb cleaner in the throat of the carb and it starts then dies quickly this will be your problem if it doesn't turn on at all after carb cleaner it's your spark plug just change the plug.

Outstanding video. Concise and well filmed. The hint about taking photos as I disassembled the carb made the job even easier. If I may contribute one thought...I would recommend removing the dust cover. Doing so makes reassembling the carb much easier. Of course Toro had to use to "star" screws that are tough to access, but it removing it was worth the trouble.

I am not mechanical but I will try this to fix my Toro /briggs mower. you are a very good instructor for sure.

It was great. took it all apart just like you showed us, cleaned and poke at the jets with the bristle from my wire brush, put it all back together and SURPISE started at the first pull. Thank you so very much for saving me some mula. You are tha man!!

Just wanted to say THANK YOU!!! I have never ever worked on a lawn mower in my entire life - aside from putting gas in it and using it. Yesterday I not only changed the jet main and cleaned the carburetor, I was able to remove and clean the fuel tank, flush the fuel line and I replaced the air filter and changed the spark plug so THANK YOU!! Thank you I had bought a brand new toro recycler in 2016/17 used it for 1 or 2 seasons starting working a lot of OT didn’t have time to take care of the yard hired a landscaper for the last 2 or 3 yrs never used my mower since this yr I have time but my mower wouldn’t start I had the same fluids since 2019 this video helped revive Frankenstein cleaning out the carb cup I had so many particles in that thing ne gas new oil new spark plug 1st pull it sounds brand new thank you 🙏🏾

🚨UPDATE🚨 Mine didn’t start 🤦🏽‍♂️, possible deeper issues. Changed the plastic piece mentioned in the video, new filter, cleaned the carburetor, good gas, new spark plug and it just seems like something is restricting it from starting!!! May take it to a shop, but I ended up buying a new one with the same Briggs & Stratton engine!

This was an excellent video! My sister’s mower wasn’t working and I watched your video and replaced the parts you suggested and put all back together and it runs perfect!! I am woman here me roar! 😂

Excellent video. I was able to fix a mower that wouldn't start after trying everything else. The hardest part was trying to decide the part number to order. Our engine is the exact same as the one you demonstrated (although B&S gave a different part number). I just ordered the part number you showed. Once the part came, it was about 45 minutes and we were mowing again. Thank you!
