    Out of curiosity, I wear sunny's, do sunny's present a severe danger to the eyes? I get some ppl need glasses to see properly, but I see it as a huge weakness in practice and I've taken them off in the past when some idiot at a bar seemed a bit sketchy, what do ppl do if they need glasses? I was lazy eye'd till my parents spent $50k correcting it so I might need them in later life, not taking the piss.

    No disrespect intended, but while doing back kicks, it's best to keep your shoulders horizontal, as it prevents your momentum from carrying you forward and throwing you off-balance and leaving you exposed. Good 360 round kick, though.

  • @ActionMundelein

    @ActionMundelein

    6 жыл бұрын

    One of the best parts about anything involving the body is that there's a ton of variability in what you can do. I would say for a majority of back kicks, you're right, you want to maintain your balance. However, for the example in this video, the 360 is meant to track an opponent who is retreating. In this case, I would argue that if you think there is an opportunity to score if you can cover the distance, extending yourself is appropriate. It's a risk vs reward scenario and people who can snap this out very quickly and cover good distance can often surprise their opponent. But, I agree with you, this is not how "standard" 360 back kicks should be taught. Hope that clears up my intention for this video. Thanks for watching and thanks for the comment!

  • @ActionMundelein

    @ActionMundelein

    6 жыл бұрын

    This could end up being a contentious topic here. There are certainly wrong ways to do techniques, but with that there are also many ways to do techniques right. If you watch Olympic videos, you see many athletes sacrificing stability to get the kick. This is good, AND this is bad. You don't want every move to compromise balance just for the chance to score a point, but you also have to remember that you can make modifications to movements every now and then after learning an opponent's pattern. A tornado kick should almost always land with proper balance - maybe not horse riding stance, I think that's a little excessive - but stretching out your kick is not a good way to practice EVERY time you use it. The idea in this video is that you can use it if your opponent reliably creates distance between you and them. Sparring is dynamic and full of movement. I won't say that your instructor is wrong by any means for landing in horse stance, however, for sparring I find that horse stance roots your feet to the ground a little too much and limits my mobility. Again, this video is just providing options. There's no do or die way when approaching martial arts. Develop your style and just have fun along the way :)
