As a hardcore Nirvana fan that I am, Tori Amos' cover of Nirvana's Smells Like Teen Spirit is one of the best covers of all time. Long live Tori Amos!

Estoy deacuerdo,le da un sentimiento melancólico que te atrapa,aunque dicen que cuando Kurt Cobain escuchó la versión no podía parar de reir jajaja,quizás por que ella no captó el mensaje 🤷🏻‍♂️,aunque a mí me parece una gran versión,es todo lo contrario de lo que es la canción en sí,pero es una gran versión

I was lucky to catch this song at Tori's Seattle show in 1999. Words cannot express the feeling. RIP Kurt.

Kurt cobain in his 1993 interview said this cover was "flattering" and that him and Courtney used to wake up to it and jokingly do interpretive dances to it😂😂😂❤❤❤❤

The songs original version is filled with angst and hatred but that's just musically. Lyrically it has a hidden sadness. Tori brings out the reality of how Kurt was really feeling in the pit of his stomach. He had way to much love for humans it brought shadows upon his soul. He cared waaay to much. Great extraordinary visionary.

i think you naled it and that the "hate and angst" in the original version was simply put there by the pearl clutching consernicrats of the time.

Creo que la gente no supimos ver o comprender la letra,sólo nos quedamos con la música-voz de Kurt etc....antes no me fijaba en las letras,(era dificil saber de què iban y más aun sino sabes inglès,sólo escuchas la música-voz y ya está,si te gusta bien y sino pues nada(cuantas canciones habrá que por no saber inglès u otros idiomas no sepamos el mensaje)🤦🏽 y esta seguramente cuando salió no supièramos de què iba,menos mal que ahora ya lo sabemos,lástima que haya sido tan tarde

En esta canción Tori Amos es como si se estuviera despidiendo o se fuera despedido de Kurt,es una canción muy melancólica,la canta de una manera que te hace llorar,por que te hace recordar a Kurt,quizás si la fuera escuchado cuando èl vivia me transmitiría otra sensación ,aun así es una gran versión

@malocho nah there's more then one way to be an animal ;) tori has never locked up anything. she's a force of nature whether she's holding the tension in quiet stillness or lettin it loose. you can still feel the power of it. i think she does cobain honor and justice.

Arron Albert i also feel that given the context of this song Tori acting in an unattractive way would be rather fitting. Unpretty and unapologetic but yes alot of singers do have that habit
