She had great taste in music and was clearly amazing!

I went to this concert in the mid 90's. Towards the end of this song she climbed over the piano onto the floor, back to the piano & just started playing & screaming from her soul. It was so exciting & slightly frightening as a teen girl. The girls & women in the audience all started screaming at the top of our lungs. It was a collection of screams some in joy, others sadness, some in anger. It was one of the most freeing experiences as a woman that I've ever had.

.... Women's betrayal of other women never sounded so beautifullly enraged. Tori Amos will always be in a class of her own. One of the great talents of our time.

Piano melody at the end is insane. I am glad that she was interested in the rock/pop genre and created songs like this one. She showed her musical talent with this one. Thanks, Tori.

This song literally changed my brain chemistry as a young girl. Tori’s music got me through some very dark abusive experiences as a kid. I would listen to her cassette and be transported anywhere but where I was.

I'm a 60-year-old transgender woman and I did not come out until 2019. So I lived in the closet during the Lilith Fair years from 1989 through 1999. I heard some of these songs but I turn the station and closed my heart off because I was terrified to bear my soul and allow myself to feel all of this but I'm here now and I'm feeling every note every plaintive cry the anguish the ecstasy all of the elements of the divine feminine in the voices of women like Tori and Sarah and Paula and Alanis and so many others who defied stereotypes and expectations. These are my sisters and I feel their joy and sorrow their agony and ecstasy their rage and their laughter, all of it. So I let the tears and the laughter flow today grateful that music lasts forever. We are One. 💖💞💖

This said I think we need to acknowledge that the same rights that make it ok to identify as trans or gay....these same rights also mean a person can believe anything not cisgender is wrong and evil. I don't agree with them but, if you take away their right to expound on their beliefs.....then you will lose the right to openly identify.....or possibly even be gay or trans or bi, ect. Politics in America is a seesaw game. The left gets to drive...then the right takes a turn. The best we can hope for is everyone having a right to their own point of view....no Americans have a right to go through life without ever being offended. Personally I'm offended by anyone in a 3-piece suit.....I was sexually assaulted by a state trooper in VA so, all cops offend me....just by existing but, what can reasonably be done about it. Hillbilly Steve is never going to call a trans woman her..... Let's just be thankful if we can get him to work next to you without thinking this gives him justification to burn their house down. I had the honor of meeting her in the late 80's when I was working for WEA RECORDS . I met her in the ladies room and she gave me her autograph at that time her name was and I quote "Y KANT TORI REED" I asked her is this your name and she said I haven't decided but for now this is it. she also said if I change my name you have my original first name . I said thank you I didn't know that she was going to be as big as she turned out to be. she had just signed with us. during all this Debbie Gibson was in the bathroom with us taking a crap lol. those were the days. she was and is a beautiful person.

I'm 42, and it's the same for me, but I actually met her in an Oregon Leatherworks store in Newport, OR ...........had just left walking the docks and the Ripley's believe it or not mesuem.....stumbled right into her almost coming around a circle rack of jackets, needed to get my leather jacket conditioned. I will never ever forget that fiery red hair and her lips are her signature! I talked to her like a normal person, didn't ask for anything or insist on a signature....just a convo....it was friggin' awesome!

When I was a kid. You could call a number out of the newspaper and hear clips of singers singing their songs when they came to town. She came to my town and I listened to this and other songs several times a day and was sad when she left town. We didn’t have youtube in those days.

I remember when I first heard this song, I thought OMG! This is just out of this World... All these years later, I still think exactly the same. Total respect to a fantastic artist. 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

In Tori‘s latest book, she talks about how “cornflake girls” are serial saboteurs (basic bitches who try to tear each-other down, criticizing and sabotaging the hopes and dreams of other women). The “raisin girls” are those fewer and further between ones, those sweet gems of healthy support who build each other up rather than tearing each other down. The “man with the golden gun” is the one who “knows” he has the power to train women to do the work for him of keeping the patriarchy in place by tearing each other down and keeping each other down. She stated that the part with the “this is not really happening, you bet your life it is,” is about female genital mutilation, because it’s often women whom these young girls trust who perform the mutilation. It’s just one of many ways that women keep each other down because the “man with the golden gun” (a perception of “righteous power”) has told them to. So it’s really about both issues at once.

HUH!?! Obviously, someone in the studio assigned some Barbie to write a whatever. Tori had multiple personalities. Nothing seemed to bother Tori whereas Rabbit was a very scared individual that had a key that was needed for a bank account, a new book written and hidden, a new song left behind and somewhere in all of this there is a bounced to an almost normal character merely name Sarah McLaughlin followed by Shania Twain who was sort of a reborn from Sissel. But, the first, the very first was Brenda Lee....no...there was another composer at the age of 3 named Shirley Jane Temple not to be confused with 2 other standins that came in the later years like Shirley Temple Black who is NOT Shirley Jane Temple. Tori is part of a high autistic personality that can compose and mimick sounds and create a character for a book, a movie. The man with the golden gun was FBI shall I say, John Douglas??? Golden is like 007 but in America lingo. John Douglas detained and arrested several ?sisters? of Tori at the orders of whoever wanted to be the next, shall we say, bank manager??? Corn flake girls. As a very young child Tori witness the burning down of a corn field to flush out people that had been stealing. The ending was tragic down deep in the old south. Some day I must read this said book. Changing of hats would be from character to character whether it is Tori performing as Sissel or Sandy Dennis performing as Hayley Mills.

She is beautiful. I’ve been on this journey with her from the 90s. Been a fantastic trip. I can just pull out a cd album of hers and play it anytime I feel like it.

Not really. There’s been great music in every era, you just have to find it. I’m likely much older than all of you, but I appreciate artists as diverse as Neil Young, Dead Kennedys, Nine Inch Nails, Ghost, and so much more. The 80s had far more than The Smiths and Wham, but unless those were your formative years, you may not appreciate the innovation and diversity that happened during that time. I will admit, though, I can’t find a whole lot about the current music that I like or that defines it. There’s nothing cohesive or innovative that I can see, but maybe I’m finally too old to appreciate new music.

No 80s

This song reminds me of driving 100 miles in the morning, after working all night, to see the girl I was dating in the big town she lived in...circa 1997. We saw Tori 3 times back then. Had a bumper sticker on my car, "Tori, Trent, and Tool". Trent of course for NIN. Those years/times were great.

@@PiDev Same here. I saw NIN several times years ago, and Tool last about 10 years ago. The NIN shows were the loudest of any concert I've ever been to. I'm not sure if Tori still tours, haven't kept up.

Boys for Pele is Tori Amos at her finest. The queen of my childhood while my older sister sang along. Thank you ❤️

I never tire of this song. The passion and piano is so much more than I've rarely heard in a lifetime.

A couple of years ago, this music video saved my life. I will always be grateful for that.

I first heard this song at a Pawn Shop. I was buying a stereo and the girl needed a CD. She found this just laying around and said, here we'll listen to cornflake girl. As I heard it I was amazed at this song and asked how much for the CD. She said a .25 cents, I said DEAL! Now i have it and listen to this song all the time. GREAT SONG! Now I'm a Tori Amos fan.

I almost shed a tear at the beginning - that intro!

Tori Amos has been playing piano since the age of 5. It is like an extension of herself. She is so great!

I often judge the quality of music by whether I am able to just pick it up and play it myself quickly with my limited skills. This song is absolutely bonkers if you look at the sheet music. Way more difficult than some classical pieces I have played on the piano.

Every few years I get this song stuck in my head, spend all day humming it and an hour googling the name of it (again). It's such a rich, complex, yet subtle and beautiful song. Literally lives rent free in my brain meat. EDIT: I wish there was a longer version.

Tori has has been my savior in music for so long....starting with this one. Thank you!

Never thought I’d hear Tori in a new show. A millennial or Gen X person was definitely in charge of the music selection. Lots of other 90’s stuff in the show. Tori is one of my favorites though

My god now this is music. Unbelievable.

My favourite song of all time. The rhythm blows my mind. There's nothing else quite like it. I'm not a music genius but I know what I like and I really really really really like this track.

I started recording my music that I kept in my drawer for a decade. I struggle to find courage and meaning, but those huge personalities like Tori keep me going, they scream at me, "your expression always means something to someone, dont hold back"

Went to her concert last year and let me tell you that was one of the best concerts I have ever been to. When she sang this song everybody was singing and having a blast. ❤️
