One of my favourite Tori songs, the intro is beautiful on the record and it's just as amazing live! From the 2001 Dallas show.
Жүктеу.....

Absolutely my fave Tori song. Haunting, melancholy, beautiful, heartfelt, disturbing, upsetting, you know, all those good things.

Last 11 September, she palyed this song in her concert in London. It was absolutely amazaing and it seemed she was really crying. After performing the song, she had to stop a second, with her hands on her eyes, before starting with Ophelia. That London concert was so full of 'rare' songs: Hotel, mr. Zebra, Virginia, and Not the Red Baron... Fantastic!!!

What a masterpiece! This is my favourite Tori song. It reminds me of when I was "down in the flames" and I kept telling me that it was all because of someone I did not "really know".

This is, of her whole catalogue, my favorite. It stings my heart. My wrists ache to be slit. My veins constrict like Adam's tongue when confronted with God's accusation. It is unfathomably deep - an ocean, the peripheral of space. Melodramatic? Yes, and I'm pleased with this, for melodrama is remembered, whereas drama is merely cited.

"not the red baron" is one of the rare Tori one take wonders. She started getting feadback into the sound booth of the techs talking and she told them to continue recording, they asked if they wanted her to speak in english and she says "No Dutch" The first recording ever is the one on the CD.

I have my own interpretation of this song. In my mind, I think of a pilot during a war that’s being shot down knowing he isn’t going to see his family again. I always felt like this was his last thoughts before his end, and holding on to the love he had for his family as he accepts his fate.

Excellent live version, but Berlin is also excellent. Nothing tops the live editions from her 1996 tour, which I witnessed a few times.

I agree completely. Floors me too, each time. She mentions "Judy G" (Judy Garland) and some other indirect Gay references...since it's about a friend of a friend who dies of aids in the early 90's. Many there "no s'girls with red ribbons".... which, I think is a reference to Flying Dutchman (Dutch accent) "s'girls (the girls).

@Doylefromhell. It's not. It's Marcel van Limbeek and Rob van Tuin, her engineers, speaking to each other in Dutch. You can hear her dad at the beginning of Happiness is a Warm Gun on Strange Little Girls.

No? How strange, she goes even to Australia and New Zealand... Anyway, the first time I saw her was in Milan in 2001, at the time of her Strange Little Girl tour. However, that was her first time in Italy since 1991! After that, she's been playing in Milan and Rome regularly. I don't know how she plans her tours; I guess it depends by the sales (I mean, she plays in those countries where she sells more CDs, just to be sure that the gigs will be packed and not to waste money... I guess).
