As a massive Springsteen fan, I can have the grace and respect to say that Tori covers this exquisitely!!! There is no threat here, just more beauty!

I am a big Boss fan, but really also enjoy this one, i like Tori, shes so unique in her style and has a good sense for the core of a song.

Saw Tori perform this in Sydney in about 1996. It was amazing live! The hairs on the back of my neck sat up- not a person moved. evryone was mesmerised. I have been looking for this cover performed by her for years!!! Yay for youtube!

I'm a diehard Springsteen girl, all the way-- But this is one of the strongest covers of his I've heard. It makes the song into something completely different, and how can I complain about that? Well done :)

I hear you, Arimababy. Tori truly remakes the covers she chooses and she does it so magnificently. It's like the original artists initial intent is amplified and polished to a whole new clarity. It's amazing how she can nearly put you in a trance if you truly listen rather than just hear.

Tori is ace at coversongs. She has covered a broader range of artists than any other musican i can think of and for the most part pulled it off brilliantly.

Takes me back to a time where music mattered...... I miss it so.

Tori Amos was actually Jewel's inspiration... Heard her say so in her own words. If there was no Tori Amos, there may have been no Jewel.

Gorgeous, especially that little piano solo in the middle. Tori is amazing.

I adore this version and being Tori's devoted fan I dare to say that this interpretation is closer to my heart than Bruce's original. Which doesn't mean I don't love each one of them. ;)

I'm surprised at all the rude comments. Why are you watching this anyway? Were you expecting it to sound like Bruce's version? What's the point of a cover if you're going to copy it exactly. It's haunting and gives me chills. The piano is beautiful, and her voice is sultry.

1996?!! Thought I'd heard all of Tori's music and then I've come across this whilst searching for a digital version by Bruce. Tori's version is sublime, haunting and simply inspiring. To copy of a Springsteen song, and do it justice in your own, personal, way is simply awesome.

Perhaps, if I had never heard Bruce breathe this out in full, smoky carnality I would appreciate Tori's version. I love Tori Amos -- many of her songs grip me at the dead center of my heart and refuse to let go -- and her intricate, soulful and sometimes howling power of a voice. But I have to say, she murdered this one. :P

I've heard this one live, too. It's one of my fave covers Tori does. I think I've heard it 2 times...maybe 3? she likes this one, at least she liked it a lot in previous yrs, i'm out of touch on this last tour (no $ to go). maybe i'll cover this sometime? forgot about it! (springsteen makes me think of my parents' divorce, as my dad listened to "Born in the USA" on vinyl over and over again right when my mom moved out! so i'm not so big on springsteen lol.)

sometimes i like to mix this and bruce springsteen where they are singing it together, it's simply out of this world. The reason why Tori Amos is popular is because she actually goes on tour and gives something back to her fans. Why don't all you TA haters go over to John Mayer's site, yeat that is a real singer. He can't even hit half the notes Tori can. Oh, but he was with Jennifer Aniston! So he must be good!

yes! a very haunting interpretation. usually she takes a song an reinvents it... but in this instance she was very true to the original - with only a twist of amos... and the result is nothing short of amazing.
