naconnell1 I totally agree. I live in the orlando area & she often opens tours here. It was about a week after choir girl tour @ Tampa show & I saw a bumper sticker that said:"IS THERE LIFE AFTER TORI"??? I chased that woman down just to say hello! She thought I was a maniac!

Everything about this performance was impossibly gorgeous. I cry every time I watch.

2024 Feb 14th Absolutely beautiful on every level. All these years later...still.

"is your place in heaven worth giving up these kisses?" some of the most beautiful lyrics ever written.

The memories of this tour, and being at this show, come flooding back, whenever I watch this.

Ocean is wrapped around that pineapple tree. For anyone who ever looked into what that means you'll realize how fucking unreal this woman's song writing ability is. To me she's arguably the greatest songwriter of our time.

I love the line, "and is your place in heaven worth giving up these kisses..."

What does it mean to you?

Music from a golden age....so deep and pure....tear moving

that look she drops on the audience at about 5:10 where she just stares out like she's driving a bus while simultaneously actually delivering an emotional anthem to rival the best humankind has ever scraped together... pretty much sums this woman up.

Best version ever! Who can listen and not WEEP!

I couldn’t bare to imagine what colors I would have Never Seen or the Notes that I would never tasted if I never Heard this Woman and Her sonic gifts.

I saw this show… and when she went into this song she crushed me hard! And that moment I was in love! ❤️ you Tori!

Im telling you guys, the piano intro to this version of cooling, is one of the most beautiful pieces of music ever. I am so glad to find it here on KZread. i literally listen to that intro over and over on the DVD, letting it soak into my body. Im going to try to learn it.I LOVE IT

If you cannot determine whether or not something sounds angelic or simply a sirens song, just know that you are right. I am just glad that Tori Amos exists.

Choir girl tour? Saw her the first time then too, front and center. She was so intense I thought she was gonna burst into flames with that red hair...still the best concert I've been too in my entire life.

That's the tragedy of Cooling - she knows that the salt content of the ocean's water (her overwhelming feelings) will kill the pineapple tree; that her love for this person will eventually suffocate and kill him and though it breaks her, she has to cool down and walk away. Pineapple trees take years to grow, she's asking is it worth killing him to be with him. "Is your place in heaven worth.." Powerful stuff.

my girlfriend just broke up with me. this was one of her favorite songs but also one of the songs she had a hard time listening to. she thought she was going to lose me somehow. now im the one that lost her. its the worst feeling ever. but this song let me understand how much i did mean to her and how i should have acted differently. i love her with all my heart. Wish me luck as i give her space and time....but i really do love her more than life.

This is so exquisite. At the end especially her voice is just angelic! Cooling is one of my favorite songs of all time, I even did a project using it in high school when we read "The Scarlet Letter," lol.

No doubt. She was a bona fide child prodigy. She doesn't even read music, she pays by ear and started composing at 5. It's the kind of genetic abberation that we deem positive because it is beautiful and brings joy, but it is truly an abnormality to be born genius.

Definitely one of the greatest recorded live performances, in terms of sheer emotive power. Who doesn't get at least a little lost in those high soaring notes towards the end of Cooling? Who *isn't* instantly able to connect to that horrible sensation when someone else has fallen out of love with you while your heart is still very much raw about it all... I think I've seen her play this live 4 times now, and it's always remarkable and haunting. Love you even with all your vowel abuse, Ms Amos!

I know your comment is 7 years old, but I'll respond anyway..my interpretation of this song has always been about a mutual love of someone whom you cannot be with as life got the timing wrong. And you both feel this way about one another, often wondering"if things had gone differently".

This is the song I listened to over and over again when my grandmother was dying of lung cancer and after her passing. She was diagnosed in October and passed on January 3rd. It makes me ball.
