I just sent this to my snowboarding/fishing group text. I described it as a bedtime story from the Bob Ross of Smallies. We've had a terrible time out here in the East with flooded waterways (again and again) since May, and the fishing has been sketchy, but is picking up. I found a nice school of small Smallies prior to our sixth flood of the year a few days ago in the Upper Potomac that were loving the Zara Puppy (bone color). I lost count on 11-15" Smallies. Every single one of them, there was an instinct strike and a miss... I'd pause... twitch twitch... walk for a second... boom! It's always inspiring to see somebody doing great stuff with bass from a kayak. We will be trying to hit the Stripers hard in the coastal rivers exactly the same way that you hit these tanks. It's an annual fall tradition for us to try nothing but Spooks, Jrs or Puppies for at least a day, depending on what the fish see as food (rather than simply hit via instinct). The next couple of weeks tend to be our best chance at finding the big boys and girls up top. Thanks for the great vid, man! You have inspired and excited a small group of kayak fishers.

Good luck out there, you guys deserve it with the poor water conditions all year. It’s supposed to warm up here on my days off this week so I’m hoping to hook into some chunky smallmouth! Not sure if they’ll be willing to hit the spook still but I’ll at least give it a try. I’m guessing with the cold water temps and some warm sunny days they’ll be up shallow and easy picking with a wacky worm.

Thanks, man. It's still been pretty slow. The water temp is diving and the river is still very much receding from the last flood. We'd ordinarily be slamming good fish right now, but they seem to have lockjaw as the temp and clarity change on a daily basis. it's difficult to locate them. Everything about your videos is extraordinary, from the scenery, the sounds of nature, the hushed tone of your narration, the way that fishing seems like it's second nature to you. My favorite thing about your fishing is the accuracy of your casts, which for me, is the most important aspect of fishing, especially when it comes to dealing with currents. Unfortunately here in Carolina we are still dealing with rain and muddy streams. Significant rain from two hurricanes now. We have had a very wet year with very few weeks with conditions right for fishing or kayaking. Remember all those who have lost so much in the coastal Carolinas, Virginia, Florida, and Georgia. Its been a bad hurricane season.

A gorgeous fall overcast day, the clarity of the water, those powerful smallies…one of those unforgettable fall days that one recalls in the winter months while looking forward to the next spring. Over here in Spain we don’t have smallies, but fall is my favourite time for fishing: largemouth attack fiercely all kind of lures and the light and colours of autumn are awesome, and with a perfect temperature too.

Always such awesome scenery! And badass hookups!

as always you have the best small mouth bass fishing videos brother! so been out on my new kayak 2 times now fishing and love it! had a great day of fishing this past saturday on a small lake near my house caught some nice bass. Thanks! We have some 50’s and 60’s in the forecast for this week, should make for some good fishing now that the water has cooled off.

Smallmouth bass are great gamefish. They're quite enthusiastic feeders and pound-for-pound some of the best fighters around.

I never do this but dude I love your videos always peaceful yet action-packed while also I feel like I learn a bit. subcribed last week.

Thanks Johann! I always seem to catch more fish working my way upstream. It’s easier to maintain a position and spend more time at those productive looking spots.

Rain rain rain still here. Got out once a couple weeks back and caught some nice healthy ones on top water. Water is so high in KY and haven’t been able to fish much but now it’s cooler and hopefully will get a couple chances before it gets too cold. Might try my hand at winter fishing since I’ve had almost no summer fishing this year.
