Always loved this song. And I really believe that it influenced how I handled the impending retirement of my former supervisor. I found a way to keep her on as a senior advisor--she still has valuable experience and wisdom, no reason to show her the door.

Hadn't listened to this song in ages. There's a lot going on here...

My Favorite Armed Forces song. I love his awkwardness at this early point in his career.

She is a musician Wonder! How can you play this industrial bass figure and sing with a soul voice to it? BOAH! UNBELIEVABLE!

I like how he doesn't even try and makes a mockery of the pantomime but also knows its good for the career. He won't even pretend to play the guitar.

@albus b with you both on that...or at LEAST an underlooked gem. Lyrics are insanely great...always liked the anger and the lines 'they took me in the office and they told me very carefully, the way that I could benefit from death and disability'...pure poetry!

Vintage Jazzmaster from the early 60s that was customized (greenishburst finish, his name engraved in the neck). But the actual guitar is a legit vintage Jazzmaster. He obtained it sometime around 79-1980. The luthier who did it was American. I read about its genealogy decades ago. He was playing this very guitar the first time I saw him and the Attractions play, Orpheum Theater in Boston early 1980. Hope this helps.

Though it may be second hand, it’s by no means second rate.
