Aang in my heavily biased opinion, is also just a better bender, and in Kora they took some of the rules (like a avatars hardest element is the opposite of the one they were born into) and the beauty of bending and turned it into punchy punchy and made kora use fire bending the most through her whole show (someone went through and counted it, fire was the most by far)

@@MooCow765 actually no, the hardest element fro an avatar to learn is the one opposite to his/her personality. Aang's was earthbending because he always goes for evasion and earthbending is full on taking the hit and keeping your ground. Korra's was airbending because she's always been headstrong on everything, acting before thinking. Whereas airbending is about waiting for your opponent's attack, evade and counterattack.

Actually, she has lost some of her edge over the years. She even admits it twice. Saying if she was in her prime she would have wrecked Korra more, and after her battle with Kuvira's troops she also lets slip that she was tired and her back was about to give out during that fight. She's still the most skilled earthbender alive, but she's not on the level she was.

Her knowledge is at it's peak, but it takes more than knowledge to be the best at any bending discipline. Old age affects how well you can bend and endurance especially. Take Zuko in Korra for example, not nearly as powerful back in the day when he had been firelord for a few years versus him in retirement.

She's the only one who arguably didn't need one. Toph is an anomaly in that, she doesn't have much character development, and yet ia such an amazing character. Even he discovering metal bending isnt even development, just a sheer demonstration of her skill and power

Like the conversation she has with Zuko in the theater and really cheers him up and gets rid of his selfdoubt about betraying his uncle. To me it seems like even though she is one of the youngest in the show, she seems to be the wisest character after Iroh.

The reoccurring gag of them forgetting is mainly because while most folks with blindness its a disability. With Toph....she functions arguably better being blind than not. How many times have they had to help her do...anything really? Being around someone so capable all the time it would make sense it slips their mind. Azula doesn't spend enough time with her to really forget that the girl is blind.

I'm deeply saddened to hear of Philece Sampler's passing. I only worked with her once, but she was so fun, sweet, and funny. She exuded professionalism all while making you feel like you had always been friends. I was especially a fan of her Old Toph. She will be very missed.

I love how this show broke a lot of cliches, like Toph actually just attacked the bullies instead of turning away and crying

Despite being the one who couldn't see, toph is ironically the one who sees everything most of the time. Unlike us who sees what's in front of us, toph sees all around her at once. It make sense that she was so terrified walking on ice and flying for the first time. She suddenly lose everything again. Imagine knowing everything, then one day, you knew nothing, you can't do anything, but you knew you lost them all. It's scary

They skipped the best line! “Did I ever mention how cool it was that you developed a new form of bending?” “You can stand to mention it more.”

Honestly, Toph is not just the greatest earth bender in the world, she probably the greatest bender period. I mean, she invented a whole new type of bending! At 10 years old she outshone masters with decades of experience like Iroh and Bumi.

I like how it wasn't just one schtick for her, like they could have left it at her being able to sense people on the ground but they gave her metalbending, she eventually learned sand, and you get to see her ability get more refined through the series
