I am always amazed as the marvelous craftsmanship exhibited by these men that work in primitive environments. The skill and arititic abilities never cease to amaze me. I would love to be able to teach these sheet metal skills to my metal shop students. I do manage to have a few Gen X and Gen Z students who are not afraid to get their hands dirty, their hair messed up or sweat. Rare commondity in America nowadays.

I didn't realize that there was such a demand for Mosque towers in Afghanistan. That is some lovely brass sheet that they are using. I wonder if it is produced locally. I would have like to have seen how the frame is made. Can anyone explain the significance of the shapes and design? That is quite clever how they ground down a drill bit to make the punch for the rivet holes.

These are typical onion shapes, like in some other religions and buildings. Think of Russian orthodox churches. The half moon symbolizes sheitans horns.

@@JohnDoe-es5xh Thank you. But the question still remains what is the significance of the onion shape?

@JohnDoe-es5xh stop being an ignorant moron. The half moon doesn't represent anything but just a young moon, and this symbol was just an Ottomon symbol which is just to signify the lunar calender that the Muslims use. It is based on lunar cycle, which is exactly 30 days as opposed to unregular days in Christian or solar calenders. Also, it was used to distinguish their place of worship from other religions in their territory, and as the symbol of the rule of Ottomans. There is nothing more to it, so stop spreading your malice.

@@paulkurilecz4209 do not listen to that JohnDoe the ignoramus being. He is talking out of its azz as many non-Muslims do under a video showing anything related to Islam and Muslims, and most of their comments come from a place of malice and hatred in their hearts. The shape and the moon had no greater significance and just based on whichever architect built the first Mosque with better sound transfer during the prayers, and the dome shape has been tested for millennias to be the best. There were no microphones back in the day. Also, architecturally it looks good, but it was based mostly on sound transfer back in the day. The lunar, sometimes it has a star in the crescent area, is just a symbol that the Ottomans started, and now is widely used. But, lots of Mosques around the world don't use them. Muslims use the lunar calendar, which is exactly 30 days as opposed to the Solar and Christian calendars. The Ottomans used them to distinguish their place of worship to other religions in their territory. That is all there to it to the crescent moon symbol.
