Top UK Chemistry Student (International Olympiad) Q&A

Jonathan represented the UK in the 2018 International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO) and won a gold medal, placing top in the UK. He studied Natural Sciences at Cambridge University (like me) and in this video I ask him various questions about the Olympiad, chemistry, and getting into Cambridge.
🙋‍♂️ About me:
I'm a student at the University of Cambridge studying Natural Sciences, and I make videos that can help you with studying and applying to universities such as Oxbridge. I also offer tutoring for subjects including biology, chemistry, and maths (contact via website).

Unless you do a gap year or if you do the olympiad before summer year 13, then you won't be able to put it in your application unfortunately. Realistically, this means that most people can't put it in their application. You can mention that you are preparing for it or you can mention other olympiads (like there are national olympiads you can definitely enter before year 13)

@@IlyasCambridgeAdvice oh ok thank you Ilya, I'm currently in year 11 and so I will maybe try and do it in the lower sixth (next year) but what do you mean by a gap year? Also your videos are amazing and I'm learning a lot from them (I was just watching one of your videos)

@@notme2472 You can do the chemistry challenge next year (which is meant for year 12s). By gap year I mean you do the olympiad in year 13 and take a year out and then apply to university in the year out (I wouldn't recommend taking a gap year solely to include your potential participation in the olympiad on your application).
