OK, since you asked, I'll let you know what I think. UConn has two open slots they can fill, and while Chen would be a nice addition, she would not be a difference-maker if she didn't come to UConn. What UConn REALLY needs at the moment is another "big," because the formerly injured El Alfy is a question mark until she gets back into action and, while Sarah Strong should be an exceptional power forward, the difference-maker would be landing Beers of Oregon State...I'm holding my breath on that.

The one thing UCONN does NOT need is another PG. Chen is great, but what we need is another post player not another guard. We have: Paige, KK, Ashlynn, Azzi, Cheli, and Ziebell. All she would do is kill the development of our young guards by taking minutes from them.

Cheli and ziebell don’t look ready to play as freshmen. You would agree if you saw the McDonald’s all American game and the Nike hoops summit. Maybe in a year or 2?

But the only bigs we have are Strong (a freshman), Ice, Jana (redshirt soph with 0 minutes), Ayanna (unproven). At minimum we have 4 proven guards in Paige, Azzi, KK, Shade, and 2 proven wings. We have 1 proven big. Guards are what we have the most of.

The thumbnail labels Chen as “UConn’s Missing Piece.” That’s absurd. We all know that an experienced, national-quality big from the portal is UConn’s missing piece. I’ve read that a couple of teams (I think one was UCLA) are as stacked with quality bigs as we are with guards. Hope Geno can land one.

No, they need Raegan Beers. She would be the the low post scorer to replace AE. She was good for 18/10 at 66% shooting high IQ and lots of energy. She was every bit as good as AE and was only a soph and had no help like she would at UConn. El Afy, Strong and Beers rotating at 4 and 5 and with Griffin amd Paige playing 3 would allow Uconn to go up tempo, as they'd have 4 very useful guards and Q might help a bit

Uconn doesn't need another guard - they are already over stacked with guards..What they need is another BIG..No idea how Jana will do since this is her first year playing after an injury..

UConn doesn't have any missing pieces because there is no recognized documentation of what it takes to be successful. Anyone who thinks UConn had a bad year does not understand the nature of the game. they made it to the Final Four with a playing roster of seven including four Freshmen, losing by two points while holding the WCBB Player of the Year to 10 points under her season average. The five players out for the season are back for 2024-25 with an incoming class of three who are #1, 7 and 15 on Hoopgurlz.

Chen is a really nice player but...we have an abundance of talented guards already. With that said, we need an experienced big(s). A one-year rental like Iriafen would be ideal but since Kiki is probably staying in state to play with Juju, it would be really really nice if geno lands either Beers or Weimar. Either one would be a difference maker for UConn.

UConn has 6 returning guards 2 of them point guards 2 more in the freshman class coming in. They are all high school AAs don’t think they need another guard.

Her coach at Princeton went to UConn like you said and she’s been talking to geno about Chen. I don’t see her going anywhere besides UConn.

Carla’s a good coach, but even tho she’d love to see her star play for Geno, she’s gotta see that Kaitlin wouldn’t be more than a secondary role player among a talented cast at UConn. If Kaitlin has designs on playing professionally, playing one year in the shadows of Paige and Azzi certainly wouldn’t give her the national exposure she’d want.

I have been a UConn fan since 1990. Did Geno not get the 4 guards, 1 big into the Final Four last year? If that's the case and we have to play 4 guards and 1 big, then let it be like this past year. Strong in the middle like AE, or El Alfy. Since when do you faithful fans not trust in Geno and his staff ? Also, has anyone asked Azzi if she still has a desire to play for UConn ? Is Azzi's heart still in it ? She's still going to the WNBA because of her name and because of S Curry. She will be fine if she stays or goes. Paige, KK, Ashlyn, Q S, Ice, know what it takes to get to the final four. Zeibell, Cheli, and S Strong will learn very very quickly what it takes. El Alfy, Caroline,Aubrey, will contribute. Remember Geno and his staff, prepares his players now, for the March Madness run. Yes it would be nice to have a good big like Stephanie Dolson, but whoever is out there, they will go and give their all, like always. Stop worrying, have faith, Let's go Huskies !

The primary need is the big post player. It would be a great move only if KK goes down with an injury and KC is ready to step in. But other than that, I am sure she will not appreciate her playing time being cut drastically.

UCONN does not need another guard. They need size. Muhl left, but Fudd is coming back. If Iriafen is available, that's a no-brainer.

Maybe the Coach wants an insurance policy in case the injury bug continues or a player or two has a slower recovery.

Raise your hand if you see UConn heading for another injury laden season? 🤚🏻 Yes we need Kaitlyn-like player and a high-end big.

I can't see her as a priority player. KK should move into the priority ball handler role and cement her spot for the next 3 years. Paige can always assume that role to give KK a break. With Azzi, Ashlyn, and Allie as shooting guards the depth chart is full. I don't see Chen wanting to sit that much behind that group.

I can't believe I'm about to say this, BUT, Geno is packing too much into his basket, don't you think? I mean he can only start 5 players. To have a bench with players who can start on almost every other team in the Country is not going to sit well with those players. After the last couple of seasons it's very understandable Geno wants to have a full roster ready to play. What happens with KK and Ashlynn? Do they get severely reduced playing time? Q Samuels? She's a real sleeper. I don't know if she will stay at UCONN (limited playing time?) but I see her graduating into a real force on the court. Unfortunately it will probably be for another team.

Agreed on no guards even though she's a great player. I'd like to see UConn get Reagen Beers. With ElAffy coming off the injury, that will sure up the 5 spot. You got Sarah Strong to play 4. Irriffan would be great, but that would take to much time away from Strong who's ready to start from what I hear.

They just lost a big and a guard. A guard that didn’t play. Azzi is the Guard that move next to Paige. Chen could start, Azzi off the bench. Chen is a senior grad, here for one year.

Makes no sense. Huskies are going after a post and another swing for their last to positions.
