Everything you mentioned is so correct especially having your own inspector. I've heard people purchasing homes without having their own inspector and nightmares not long after.

I was with GIECO/Travelers for 24 years. I switched to State Farm 3 years ago and I have been very satisfied. The biggest difference I’ve found is the benefit of having a personal State Farm insurance agent.

Can’t wait to buy my first home. Working on my credit and saving funds now. I knew about not making major purchases during the process but didn’t know they run your credit again at the end. What are some good questions to ask when interviewing the realtor and lender?

Great advice always do your homework we had a lender that I was not pleased with always wanted to talk with the husband and never called you right back and plus I didn't like his attitude so to make long story short we didn't use him anymore

Excellent advice Alisha! I am a Realtor in southern Cali. This is the same advice I give my Buyers, especially not making any major purchases before Escrow closes! Regarding homeowners insurance, you'll probably get a good rate by bundling it with your car insurance carrier.

This is such great information! Although i purchased my 2nd home last year, it will come in handy when i decide to purchase my “forever home” in a few years

You are SO right about having the homeowners insurance in order... the buyers agent was getting the insurance together for my family member and I am a licensed insurance agent... thank goodness I was able to look at the inspections and quote before closing because my family would have been screwed! The buyers and sellers agents only care about closing... whatever happens with the insurance after closing, they couldn't care less about.

You are so right about picking an agent....mine seemed to disappear right after that contact was signed smh😑😡

I have been trying to buy a home and I am learning so much new information everyday. I am researching everything. I also have learned that some lenders really don't care about helping the potential home owner. Completing the paperwork on time and keeping the buyer updated should be essential. Some lenders tell you the pre approved amount but don't contact you again. You do your part buy you have to keep calling them to see where you are at during the progress. I am listening and learning from anyone with home owning experience. If I am going to be paying for this home for years, I need to get the best rates I can get. Thanks for this video.

This may sound tacky...I put my furniture on lay-a-way deliberately because I wanted the sale price & to ensure it wasn't sold and I made the minimum payment until I closed on my new build.

Have you talked to a realtor? There are sooo many resources available for first time home buyers that most people aren’t aware of. Don’t give up!
