  • @brianv5677

    @brianv5677

    5 жыл бұрын

    @@linpawz3029 At first, I too wondered why the kick wasn't more pronounced. The form and toss look spot on - even in slow motion. I think maybe two reasons... 1.) Perhaps he could have had more wrist snap - which is what generates the kick. 2.) It is hard to tell, but his opponent looks to me to be standing just inside the baseline and returned the ball early just after the kick. Notice that the ball is still on the rise when the opponent returns it. This is what you are supposed to do when returning a kick serve. I think if that same serve was into an empty court, you would have saw a bigger kick and would think it was better than "very average".

  • @linpawz3029

    @linpawz3029

    5 жыл бұрын

    Brian Vogel nope i do not agree ..! When he hits the ball on the return it already has shown some bounce potential :)that is what a good kick does.The bounce is so sudden that the reciever has to sneak attack much inside the baseline to decrease the effectiveness of the serve. which is a very tough skill used by minimal players :D

  • @brianv5677

    @brianv5677

    @@linpawz3029 We disagree then. Please provide a link to a video that shows a near court server serving to an opponent in the far court (not into an empty court) with a kick serve as you described. I could not find such a serve in this 22 minute video - which means these tennis players from top west coast American universities all have very average kick serves according to your definition. Thank you.

    Yup, he's hitting big on both side, you see the new school big topspin forehand and very flat backhand like Kyrgios, Sock or Auger-Aliassime. BUT he's not afraid to hit hard on that flat backhand. With a better footwork and more stable/load stance (he looks like dancing all over the place), he will be BIG and will serve harder.
