Zanzo and Rogefort represent the two opposite extremes when it comes to creating media. Zanzo- The artist who's just pulling stuff out of his ass, has no idea what he wants to make and doesn't go into any project without a plan, in the end all of his "art" collapses on itself. Rogefort- The businessman who too focused on the bottom line and not the creation itself, willing to hamstring the artists creativity and actual intent if it means it can get done even slightly cheaper.

It's kinda funny tbat the cold businessman has the more functional boss fight and meets his end because of his love of money, and the artist is the one who doesn't technically have a fight.

If i had a Nickel for everytime that we had a Top seven For a Game with Music themed Bosses I'd have two Nickel's wich isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice.

Scorpion: whether they're making unofficial sequels to games pretty much forgotten "shows bug fables as a nod to how paper Mario pretty much forgot the old and original and better style they had" PMTTYD Remake: heroes get remembered, but legends never die!

I'd just like to note that despite the lighthearted and fun tone, it's implied that Chai, in fact, *kills* most of these bosses. Like, it's one thing for the robots and stuff, but these are living, breathing people, and all that they were are gone. Let it be known, that while Mayday and Zuke may not kill, Chai certainly does.

I particularly appreciate Mimosa's boss fight because of the Space Channel 5 segment. The track that's playing throughout it sounds like it's straight out of those games too! Definitely one of the most underrated rhythm game series' out there.

Well this was a real blast to watch, love this game so much. And thanks for recommending Mechassult Man, got me some Tales of retrospectives to watch cause man I love the Xillia games.

I'm a fan of more in-depth dissections of the mechanics of the individual boss battles in lists like these. It can be of aid for one's own projects in this genre of games. And the back-and-forth between two people felt quite nice too. All the respect to Hi-Fi Rush for having made such a name for itself as it did, even though for me personally, i jive more strongly with the world, style and characters of No Straight Roads. I've seen some comments here and there calling NSR "the lesser HFR", but though i feel slighted, i moreso hope that the rhythm/action hybrid nature of both games will bring people *together*, for both games are cool on their own merits. And here's to hoping there will be many more cool things in this genre/these genres. (Like for example God of Rock. Strange game but GREAT soundtrack) Where it concerns character action or hack-and-slash games, i recommend you keep an eye out for Genokids. It doesn't really mix the action with rhythm as such, but *is* about an entire rockband facing off against an alien invasion, where you bring the band back together and can swap between characters on the fly. A relatively more recent one in this genre from late 2022 goes by name of Soulstice. Pretty awesome game which has a more serious dark fantasy tone to it and a bit more generally flawed than HFR, but nonetheless very much worth looking into for all it has to offer. Got seven different weapons total, over twenty different enemies, a pretty customizable skill tree that has more substantial upgrades than let's say simple percentage boosts (there's no messing about with stats), a mix between a Style Gauge and a Special Meter, and more stuff. As for a much older game, look up The Dishwasher: Vampire Smile by Ska Studios. A hyperviolent 2D venture that is a short but sweet ride, heavily focused on evasion, and weapons range from katanas, double kama and machine guns to dual meat cleavers, a giant syringe that seems to have some executions based on stealing blood from one enemy and then jamming it into another enemy to overload their head or throat with blood... and a panini maker. Some others that may be interesting are Gori: Cuddly Carnage (syntethic toy cat riding a plasma flail chainsaw hoverboard in a toy apocalypse), Cookie Cutter and Clash: Artifacts of Chaos. Those last ones aren't hack-and-slash or character action games as such, but are still cool games. Thank you for the video, and wish you all a lot of good stuff on further ventures, both on this channel and outside of it.

Great list, guys. This game was my favorite of last year, and considering the rumors of this game going multi-platform, I’d really like to own a physical version of it. Although for the list, speaking as someone who’s only played through the game once [so far], my list looks different than yours. I had a tough time with Mimosa, with largely the same points that Mech brought up (and because I didn’t think to spam my assists for it, but details), so I’d place her on the lower end. Then Korsica’s interchangeable with Kale between #3 and #2, with Kale’s final form packing a massive punch, leading to me dying at least half a dozen times to it, and the mentioned problems with the second phase. Finally, Roguefort is my personal favorite boss, largely due to the spectacle and escalation of the fight. Also I wasn’t too bothered by the Korsica segments. Also one last thing, I noticed that you guys only talked about the licensed boss tracks, and hardly mentioned the streamer mode tracks. I’d be interested to know your thoughts on those as well.

Mimosa was the most fun for me bar none. Being a theater geek, having a full on performance with her on a stage with her diva personality, it was just so much freaking fun!

Last year was definitely a year of big women in games. With both Rekka and Marisa from Street Fighter 6 being introduced to the public. Muscular women deserve love too.

I'm sad you didn't talk about the royalty free replacements for the boss themes when you play on streamer mode. While some of the royalty free songs don't hold a candle to the licensed music, like Kale's fight, I think QA-1MIL's royalty free song "Too Big To Fail" is one of the best songs on the soundtrack!

I'm sorry but I need to disagree. Roguefort is the best boss fight in the game. The music is just so amazing. The fact that the transformation is just a THING HIS MODEL DOES, the sheer size difference, the amazing design, the PERFECTION of his transformation timed to the music....I LOVE it

I feel like some mention should've gone to the streamer mode OST for some of these fights. Captive Normals is great as Rekka's actual theme, and Too Big To Fail just stomps 1,000,000 in my ears. My Heart Feels No Pain suits Mimosa to a T. And In a Blink? Honestly way more hype and fitting than Perfect Drug.

With how surprisingly well this game has been from critics and audiences it makes me sad I never got the chance to play Hifi Rush. I keep hearing rumors that it will come to the switch and not just not be an Xbox exclusive so I hope that's the case so I can try this one myself.

A pretty good list though I would disagree on the Korisca fight. I think she is a good character (love the Scottish accent) but I was disappointed when I found out her fight was entirely a rhythm game instead of the usual hack n' slash boss fight. I felt it went on a bit too long & while I do like the parry & dodge timing I don't think its fun enough to be a dedicated boss fight.

Also, if you use "Steal The Show" on Kale, he'll just shrug and say that he's a dog person. This move works on Mimosa and Roquefort and it'll stun them, but not Kale.
