These are the top saltwater baits and how to catch trout, flounder, and redfish with them. In this vid I show Berkley GULP! and Z-man and how to catch flounder, trout, and redfish with them with underwater footage in the pool. This vid will for sure help you catch more fish! Replacement arrived!By the way, I did forget to mention that the original lure did have a decent strike however as most anglers will attest you can get a hit kzread.infoUgkxCbNOWAGmn6nfbCbJDmasvBq7J38KZNw2 and fish will hang on and release lure. I used the replacement lure yesterday and ran thru a Shimano Waxwing, Kastmaster, Bobber (set to sink). I found the does run deep (I casting on the flats 3.5'). Make sure you adjust your rate of retrieve and rod tip angle (up) to prevent getting snagged on bottom. Used it a couple of times and action was very lifelike (looked like local bait fish for trevally), craftsmanship very good....however eyeball fell out. I asked for replacement and it is on it's way! It was very easy to change out treble to single inline hook.

    *Altogether a well made lure **enjoyable.fishing** recommend it’s the skirt seems to stay on well and the whole thing is bigger than I thought it would be. The 2 metal have a nice plating on them as well.*

    The only thing I will add for beginners....you can and absolutely will get bit on a straight retrieve. Matter of fact, most of my biggest fish are caught on a straight swimming retrieve. The erratic jigging works well when the fish are aggressively chasing baitfish or when lots of bluefish/jacks/ladyfish are present, but I do better with reds, tarpon, and big snook by swimming the jig along or just above the bottom.

    My curly tail lasts one second. I did manage to catch a flounder on the gulp once it lost wiggly tail, so just stub. Too many sandtrout and croaker mess up my gulp. Guess I’ll try the jerk bait. Might work better.

    When I take beginners out, I will often tie on a DOA Shrimp to their rod, have them cast it out, and slowwwwwwly reel it back like you would fishing a plastic worm for largemouth bass. My second choice is the same Z-Man Paddlerz in the video rigged with a Mustad grip pin weedless worm hook. Same retrieve...slow. People are shocked how easy it is to get bites!

  • @johnmoore3504

    @johnmoore3504

    I use down to 2000 size especially on trout which tend to be smaller and located on grass flats where pulling them from structure isn’t required. 2500 to 3000 is a good all around size. I only get out the 4000 for big snook and small tarpon. For jigs like used in this video go with a lighter rod so the hops are smooth. A heavier rod will over power a light jig bringing it up the water column too much. Lighter rods tend to load up better for longer casts too especially with only a 1/4 oz jig.
