One thing I’ve learned from being a Native Marylander is how to deal with the weather. Once I feel a rain drop I tell myself “I have approximately 2-5 Minutes before It pours down”

I lived in Montgomery County for 60 years but no longer do. Too many Democrats and too many illegal aliens. Too expensive, too much crime, way, way, way too much traffic. If you can afford Montgomery County, you can afford someplace better.

...Democrats.......lol! Hopefully you moved to a nice red area where you can relax and not be concerned about crime, illegals and the expense. After 60 years, you deserve at lot of red. Enjoy. Best to you.

Lived in MoCo for over 30 years. Car centric to a nauseating level. People are very closed off compared to most places in the country. Blame work, blame stress, bottom line is the general person is pretty cold. Oh and food options suck and people don’t seem to care. Def not a horrible place to live but for many you’ll see there’s a lack of soul here. Carbon copies of everything.

That's good info and all so true! I'm a Native Washingtonian and reside in Silver Spring since 2009. I absolutely LOVE the County although, "There's no place like home"❤

I've lived in Montgomery county for almost half my life, it's WAY behind in infrastructure, never kept up with the rising population growth, probably 30 yrs behind which is one of the many reasons traffic is horrendous, which is positively ridiculous considering the wealth it has.

I laugh when my friends in MD complain about the weather. I've lived in VT, NH, MA, CT, NC FL, WI, AZ, and Vegas. I've also lived in Mexico and Scotland UK. Places like New Orleans with their humidity now that's a whole different level of heat, nope and bless those who can tolerate it. Montgomery County is definitely on my radar.

We lived in Montgomery County (Gaithersburg) for 22 years and left because of the crime going up exponentially. Too many gangs especially in Germantown. The best thing we did was move!

Thanks. Been living in Montgomery County MD for decades and love it.the property tax is big as you said but schools are great. Less traffic these days as many still work from home. I'm retired and can move but staying put. After a certain age state taxes go down.

Schools are terrible - I don't know why people think they're great. New York State schools completely dominate the MoCo school system, particularly lately when so many "special programs" take the place of actual academic learning. My daughter graduated from MCPS and never even had a history class, but plenty of "equity" lessons - utterly ridiculous.

Every locale has their pluses and minuses. There are 1.1 million people here and if it's not for you, the best you can do is move out of or not move to MoCo. It's a big country.

Not enough to make up the difference in housing costs. Housing is 192% of the national average. Are wages double the national average? No. After decades living in MoCo, I finally got smart and am leaving. It's amazing what I can get for the same price as my 1,500 square foot house on an acre in MoCo - 10 acres, 4,000 square foot house, walking distance (less than a mile) to the Gulf of Mexico. And no, not in Florida.
