Miss this show we use to get it here in New Zealand week behind UK.... Best music show 🇳🇿❤️💙🎤🙏
People were originally hoping that John Peel was going to host that week's chart (12 January 2003), but it was actually Scott Mills on his second of his temporary six-week stint!
It is funny how every friday on bbc2 they re show Totp from the 80s and 90s now because there is now decent music any more
Omg I feel like crying 😭 I had just turned 21🥺
i love Erasure forever ...
It’s hard to imagine all these songs being out at the same time
It's the sound of the underground... The wheels on the bus go round and round... Er wait a minute!!..
I Love Girls Aloud !!! Greetings from 🇨🇱 thanks for sharing !!

Music in its final throws of death.
Foos performing Live because nothing less is deserved and how fkn lucky are the studio audience to get an ‘intimate’ performance. Wish I was there !
Fact: Erasure did the 1995-1998 Top of the Pops Theme Tune with a track by “Vince Clarke” kzread.info/dash/bejne/h32nqbuTlLu4l6w.html

2002/ 2003 was a weak time for music.
A lot more variety back in chart back in 2003….
still way more variety in the charts in 2003, trying to work out when it became very homogenic
Tbf it's a better line up than I saw in an episode 6 months earlier (virtually all shit). Still a mixed bag. Foo fighters awesome, electric 6 cool in a quirky way. On the other side: Richard Ashcroft underwhelming, wanted to skip audio bully's on appearance alone... And Girls aloud no1 with Busted and David Sneddon fighting for it next week... oh dear lord. God bless spotify and apple for digital music.

Shame it was not feeder who got the number 1.
I don't think the erasures cover is that bad tbh. I would rather hear that than what's in the charts now.
A lot of variety back then.the charts are absolute garbage nowadays.
haha theme music is Whole lotta love with an Amen break! d'fuck?
As a then 17 year old school girl in east London, I didn’t know that the thick lad from my A Level Art class was moonlighting as the singer from ‘Audio Bully’s’ (Bullies?)

and they did very well for a while, this performance didn't reflect how good the records were
will girls aloud get to number 1 for a 5th week? or will busted or david sneddon be there? this is the deathnail of pop music right here
😂
I'm not sure who I'd have predicted to be dead out of all of these by 2023, but it probably wouldn't have been Sarah Harding and Taylor Hawking. More likely Richard Bacon.

RIP Sarah Harding
By the time Chris Cowey took over, "Top Of The Pops" became shite, when loads of Cheesy pop acts were dominating the show every week, and naff dance acts. I decided to close the doors on this show at the end of 1999. Chris Cowey just didn't have a clue He was crap.

Wow just shite
The rot had started to set in at this point with the charts and TOTP. A long drawn out death that continues to this day with the current state of pop music. Girls Aloud would be the curse for many years to come with reality shows picking people who couldn't sing. In any other industry you have to be good at what you do, for some reason with music, you don't actually have to be able to sing to get anywhere.
That version of Solsbury Hill is dreadful....
erasure cover of solsbury Hill was shockingly bad.....and vince clark is a fantastic song writer.....and the second song was even worse !!!
