My hubby works at U of A and I would like to move closer but I worry about crime.
Are these areas safe. The schools are bad.

Thanks for watching! :) I'd recommend checking out these websites for crime stats: www.library.pima.gov/content/crime-statistics-in-tucson-and-pima-county-neighborhoods/ and icrimewatch.net/index.php?AgencyID=55662 Oftentimes you're able to choose a school other than the default school in the area. Here's some resources for researching schools so you can make a good decision with your student: Niche.com, GreatSchools.org, PublicSchoolReview.com
80% of Tucson was a cesspool in 1978-83, I can only imagine how bad it is now. Especially with 10 million of our new residents from all over the world. Being a middle school/ high school student wasn’t so bad, you just get used to blatant racism and living in fear. I attended Jefferson Park elementary some of the worst years of my life, thanks for the reminder.

I was born and raised here and I've seen a lot of changes and growth over the years. And areas near the university have changed a lot with the expansion of the campus, especially in Jefferson Park. Banner University Medical Center has a huge footprint there and UA has some of their buildings north of Speedway too. You'd likely not recognize a lot of it now. My dad's elementary school is in the area and I was surprised to learn that it was redeveloped many years ago into student apartments, but the historic façade remains which I think is so cool.

Sounds like University Hight’s Elementary, it was closed,due to issues surrounding segregation. Once you see the contents of a septic tank, it leaves an impression, one easily remembered.
