I thought about him . as a boy the only familly he had was the paintings , he had a hard life as a kid , he wasnt closed to others , and finally when he decided to open up , finding a woman with a lot in common with her, tried to save her, and finally at an age you can't start again he lost everything . when the movie was over I was thinking for a long time, and I felt inside my heart . high intellectual cinema, and emotions

Love the acting in the last scene. It's like he just breaks as a person in that moment, never to be the same again. And understandably so. In one fell swoop he loses the priceless collection that was his life's work and the love of his life and two best friends were the one's behind it the whole time

I was gutted at the ending, though it was a key moment that the truth she contributed to the scam was that she DID love Virgil. She made that clear, and she knew the end was coming soon when she told him "If something should ever happen to us, I want you to know that I DO love you." At the end he goes to Prague to wait for her in the cafe, because she was his first and only love. It wasn't so much losing the paintings he'd stolen throughout his life that hurt him, but losing her. The woman who captured his heart. Even being betrayed by his friends didn't hurt as much as losing her. So he goes to Prague to wait for her in the hope that he'll see her again one day.

With his high level of skills, he sought to scam people to get his collection of originals. That's why he didn't go to the police. His hands were dirty. When you think you are the smartest, there is always someone smarter than you. I think when he pulls himself together, he will prevail.

I'm confused why she hid in the attic and waited for him, and why she was still acting weird (sucking her toe n shit) even when he faked leaving. That makes it unrealistic imo.

+Rico Racks Well he says that any forgery has a human element. A piece that a person cannot hide because their character is bound to show in the forgery. That might be Claire's real personality? Not sure.

well remember that the dwarf lady said she had seen Claire leave the house 231 times. So I'm sure she went out sometimes, went on trips etc. That explains why sometimes Virgil could not contact her for days at a time. The hiding in the attic I think was a ploy to make Virgil think she trusted him and him alone.
