How many entrance exams are there for MBA?
MBA entrance exams are conducted at various levels. Some are national level entrance exams, some are state level entrance exams, and many business schools also conduct their own MBA entrance exams. Here are the top 15 entrance exams you can take for MBA admission:
1.CAT (Common Admission Test): CAT is the most popular management entrance exam in India, conducted every year. It allows admission to IIMs across the country.
2.XAT (Xavier Aptitude Test): Conducted by XLRI - Xavier School of Management, XAT is the second most popular after CAT. It is held in January and allows admission to XLRI and 11 XAMI member institutes.
3.MAT (Management Aptitude Test): Conducted by AIMA, the MAT exam is held four times a year - in February, May, September, and December. The cutoff varies each time.
4.SNAP (Symbiosis National Aptitude): Conducted by Symbiosis International University for admission to its management courses, this exam is held in December and includes an additional General Awareness section.
5.GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test): Used by over 2300 business schools worldwide, including many in India, for admission.
6.NMAT (Narsee Monjee Aptitude Test): Conducted over 75 days from October to November, candidates can take this exam up to three times a year. It allows admission to NMIMS, ICFAI, ARM University, BIT University, and many other institutes.
7.CMAT (Common Management Admission Test): A national level exam approved by AICTE, conducted in April and now also held abroad.
8.IIFT (Indian Institute of Foreign Trade): Required for admission to IIFT campuses in Delhi, Kakinada, and Kolkata, this exam is held in December with no age limit.
9.MH-CET (Maharashtra Common Entrance Test): By passing this computer-based exam, students can gain admission to two-year full-time management courses in government, private, and deemed MBA institutes in Maharashtra. This exam is conducted over two days in March.
10.TISSNET (Tata Institute of Social Sciences): For admission to full-time postgraduate degree programs at TISS, candidates need to clear this exam and subsequently the TISSMAT exam.
11.TANCET (Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test): A state-level entrance exam for admission to MBA programs in Tamil Nadu universities. Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree with at least 50% marks to apply.
12.IBSAT (ICFAI Business Studies Aptitude Test): A computer-based management entrance exam conducted by ICFAI. Admission to ICFAI Business School is based on IBSAT, GMAT, CAT, or NMAT scores.
13.KMAT (Karnataka Management Aptitude Test): Required for admission to AICTE-approved business schools in Karnataka, this exam is conducted in 10 cities across India and is also open to foreign students.
14.PGCET (Karnataka Examination Authority): A state-level entrance exam conducted by Karnataka Examination Authority. Candidates need a bachelor’s degree from a recognized institution to be eligible. The exam consists of 100 questions.
15.ATMA (AIMS Test for Management Admissions): A computer-based test conducted 4-5 times a year for admission to MBA, MMS, PGDM, MCA courses. It allows admission to over 200 top-ranking institutions.
