Good video but bizarre from the dude on the left to say "there's not a lot here" especially for how relatively tiny Ireland is and intertwined we have been with UK productions and media Can't really gauge how much he actually looked up or watched, but no mention of any of the McDonagh brothers (Calvary criminally underlooked) or Yorgos Lanthimos (shot and produced in Ireland) movies is glaring omission, in bruges would probably be my favourite/top There's cartoon saloon with rave reviews and oscar noms on all their releases in the animation front, though I haven't seen any Lenny Abrahamson Room (production and irish novelist), Frank (which I didn't personally love but is a shout for top) and also one of his first ones Adam & Paul which is a rough watch Cillians early films are worth a mention too like Disco Pigs, Breakfast on Pluto and especially Intermission which is has a stacked cast is one of the best comedies and very Irish humour. Crowley who directed that also did Brooklyn in 2015 Theres also of course The Wind That Shakes The Barley which is raw and brutal in the best sense, one of the most impactful films I've watched. also The Treaty for another indepence movie and feels amiss to not say Michael Collins when it's one of the biggest movies made here. There's plenty of movies about the troubles in Northern Ireland of course, Hunger probably being the best depicting Bobby Sands struggle, but you've got '71, 50 Dead Men Walking, Bloody Sunday and probably some more I'm missing. The Siege of Jadotville was brilliant for a cheap action movie too and the true story is worth telling. John Carneys Once and Sing Street are highly acclaimed but I haven't seen yet, but for the best musical movie you have to see the commitments, for a real Irish indie movie that's probably not travelled international and then there's a good few cult classics like that maybe I wouldn't expect you to have seen like The Van, The Snapper, War of The Buttons, Micky Bo and Me, The Field

Thank you for your insights! My brother and I both are pretty uninformed about Irish films.

In The Name Of The Father is in my top 5 of all time... not just Irish movies. Jim Sheridan made a masterful film and Daniel, Pete and Emma all deserved Oscars and BAFTAs. Angelas Ashes was a dreary story, and because of the dire situation the humor in the first half, in my opinion, was there to make you feel uncomfortable. The humor in the second half was just bizarre. Nevertheless, very moving. Emily Watson is awesome- she was great in The Boxer (another Jim Sheridan film with Daniel Day Lewis). Never saw Belfast...adding it to my list. The Wind That Shakes The Barley with Cillian Murphy was another gritty tear jerker. It does a better job, in some ways, in conveying the divisiveness of the situation, than does Michael Collins (Lian Neeson, Alan Rickman, Aidan Quinn). On the lighter side... The Commitments is another in my top 5 of all time. Directed by the great Alan parker, who also directed Midnight Express, Fame, Mississippi Burning (also in my top 5), Pink Floyd's The Wall, Evita. If you guys haven't already- check out the series Derry GIrls.
